About
Having worked in various levels of treatment, including Inpatient Hospitalization, Partial Hospitalization Programming, Intensive Outpatient Programing, Substance Use Treatment, HIV/STI counseling and treatment, Community Mental Health Services, Crisis Services, and Social Service Agencies. I find that I have worked with persons of many diverse backgrounds and co-occurring diagnoses, and consider it an honor to be let into a person’s story. Depression, substance use, anxiety, grief, mood disorders, LGBTQ+, career counseling, life transition/adjustments, psychosis, and men's issues, are some of the general topics I have worked with.
Adopting principles of existential-humanistic and person-centered approaches, I also recognize the importance of practicality, structure, and challenges in treatment. Very often folding in CBT principles, Motivational Interviewing, DBT skills, and ACT perspectives to facilitate what each client is needing. Elements of cinema therapy are also utilized.
These heroic journeys of self-exploration, vulnerability, and challenges in therapy are not always easy though, in validating the struggle, we all must endure, I hope it will be one that we find worthy together. “When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.” -Viktor Frankl
