Hello! My name is Tonia Taylor and I am a LCSW clinician in Virginia. I have over 27 years of clinical experience working with adolescents and adults with mental health, substance use and/or addiction issues. I identify as a Cognitive Behavioral therapist and utilize Motivational Interviewing and Brief, Solution-Focused strategies to help my clients reach their therapy goal(s) within a reasonable timeframe. I work with clients to increase coping with depression, anxiety, anger, & other intense emotions, and help them make progress with increasing their motivation to address substance issues and addiction.
I entered the clinical social work field because of my life experiences and my natural compassion for others struggling with mental health and substance abuse issues. I am warm and welcoming, while also clear and focused on key issues. With my empathetic & kind communication style, we'll work together to identify goals to address in therapy.
I'm very intentional as I work with my clients to reach their goals, and after I learn your strengths & challenges we'll work together to decrease intrusive symptoms or behaviors, while increasing positive coping skills to further therapy gains.
