Announcement icon During the pandemic, I am accepting new clients willing to work by either phone or video. Unfortunately, I am not meeting in person.
The best therapy is a playful blend of science and relationship. My approach is transparent and direct, getting to the heart of the matter quickly. I use lots of neuroscience to help educate my clients about why and how we should communicate in relationships. My style is unique because I will use lots of humor to encourage us as we navigate each painful spot in your life. The end goal of my treatment is practical as well as compassionate - helping you become more present with others as well as with yourself. I see our work together as the beginning of a transformative process, a collaboration to create meaningful change.
Is the pandemic getting to you? Maybe you are frustrated and overwhelmed, living in isolation while balancing the unrelenting needs of your kids and your job. Maybe you and your spouse have drifted apart. Maybe your fights have recently got more intense, and now a chasm of resentment threatens to destroy your relationship. I would like to help if I can.
There is always hope. I believe empathy is a teachable skill. Relationships can improve with time, honesty, and effort. Sharing your pain is never an easy experience. I’d like to help. I teach practical skills that will deepen your relationships and unleash your potential. Please email me if you are interested in setting up a free 30-minute consult

Tom Bolls's Groups

Masculinity: Building Better Fathers

We learn to become men by modeling ourselves after our fathers. As much as our dads loved us, they learned to bury their emotional pain, and they expect us to cope in the same way. Maybe your dad was always working or distant or frequently enraged. How do we break this cycle of pain and neglect? How do we become better fathers to our kids? Today, we as men face a new set of challenges. In this 6-week psycho-educational group, we will look at the culture of masculinity and the science behind relationships. Meetings take place via Zoom.

Communication Skills: Relationships 101

What are the secrets to a lasting relationship? How can you improve communication with your spouse? Can you repair a broken relationship? In the past decade, neuroscience has transformed the way we look at romantic love. This 6-week psycho educational group explains the theory of attachment and how it applies to your relationships. We will explore the mysteries of romantic love by delving into the reasearch-based theories of Stan Tatkin, John Gottman, Harville Hendrix, and Sue Johnson. We will also use the group to practice tangible communication skills to use with your partner. Meetings take place via Zoom.

Shame: The Archetype of The Caregiver

Do you give everything in relationship, but expect little in return? Are you immobilized by chronic feelings of shame, inadequacy and self-doubt? Are you trapped in a relationship with someone that is emotionally unavailable or even abusive? What does it mean to be codependent, and how can you break the cycle of self-sabotage? This 6 week course focuses on trauma, neglect and enactments. We will explore the problem of shame as a coping strategy based on the clinical work of Carl Jung, Brene Brown, John Bradshaw, and Francine Shapiro. Meetings take place via Zoom.
