My name is Tolana Murphy. A Deeper Knowing is my private practice. I am licensed and practice in AZ, AK, ID, KY, MO, MN, OH, OR, UT, and WY. I come from a family background where emotional needs were not supported and psychiatric concerns were not discussed outside of a confessional. I chose to work with the elderly early on, because they were such great storytellers and usually very raw in sharing emotional and physical pain. People need to know that it is safe and okay to not only talk about both types of pain, but also to be supported and provided with tools that assist them in having their needs met.
I offer a unique perspective in approaching mental health from a cognitive behavioral perspective, while assisting clients in recognizing how they are also affected physically. I have over 26 years experience in the nursing field with the last 10 years providing mental health and substance abuse counseling for groups and individuals.
