Do you have a traumatic past that you'd like to break free from? Perhaps you are finding it hard to forget about the trauma, or continue to be triggered by a past situation, such as abuse, medical trauma, or a traumatic birth? Even 'little t' traumas, such as divorce or infidelity can have long lasting effects. Or perhaps you have limiting beliefs about yourself that keep you stuck, such as 'I'm not good enough' or 'I have to be perfect'? If so, an EMDR Intensive could be a great fit for you. Many of my clients with these issues have felt relief after just one 4 hour session!

Hi! I’m Kristin, a therapist and momma of two wild little boys. As parents, we hold these perfect, vulnerable creatures in our arms for the first time and vow to never let them feel an ounce of pain. But then they do. They have their own complex set of fears and worries and it’s terrifying not knowing how to help them. By even reading this and considering counseling for yourself or your kid, You’re making such a brave choice. We ALL need the support of the greater village to raise kind, well-adjusted kids.

One of the bravest things you can do is to explore your own patterns and notice the ways they do or do not serve you. Maybe you keep hitting the same wall in your relationship to your self and with others. Maybe anxiety is controlling you or you feel disempowered in your daily life. I commit to support you in noticing your strengths and finding compassion for your stumbles. Together we will grow joy and presence in your life, while learning to attend to, and possibly resolve, unhelpful feelings and patterns. I believe in finding space to be ok in our humanness, while also staying accountable for telling ourselves the truth.

Life is really rough right now in so many ways! We have never experienced anything like what we are experiencing right now. Life has been flipped upside down, anxiety is sky high, depression is increasing, relationships are suffering, and those with children are being forced to become homeschool teachers. The sense of balance in our lives has been thrown out. We feel stuck, depressed, anxious, and maybe even hopeless. It is really important to take care of yourself in this space and reach out for help, to talk things through, and figure out how to move forward in a positive direction. You don’t need to stay stuck in this space.

My hope for my work as a counselor is to ensure others know they are not alone in any present or past suffering they have experienced. Each person's therapeutic journey is unique. The biggest step is the willingness and desire to seek help, especially when things are difficult. Openness and engagement are the pillars of a strong therapeutic relationship. My clinical practice focuses on the needs of the client. Allowing your needs to guide the treatment process. Determining which pathways work best for your needs.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist who has been helping people in the Charlotte area make essential changes in their lives for 21years. I believe that a frank and gentle approach which values the therapeutic relationship is the key to facilitate individual change. My approach is an active one in which I work with the client to find resources and experiences that create a sense of hope within. I have two major areas of focus: life span issues in adults; adjustment problems in children and adolescents. With each group I cultivate a sense of humor and an ability to play as part of my therapy.

Life events can feel overwhelming and challenging at times, and I believe we need each other’s support to journey through them. I specialize in play therapy working with the emotional and developmental needs of children ages 3 through 11. In my sessions, I provide an atmosphere that nurtures confidence, boosts self-esteem, and promotes healing for children of all ages. I believe the foundation created in play therapy can have a positive long-term impact in children’s lives. I am also trained in child-parent relationship therapy and work with caregivers and parents to develop and improve skills that strengthen the parent-child bond.

I have experience with all ages but my passion lies in helping children. I have worked with children who struggle with anxiety, depression, self harming, aggression, autism and low self esteem. My approach is to begin by building the therapeutic relationship, letting the client know that therapy is a safe space with no rules. I then challenge clients to envision their best self, to help set goals for therapy. Throughout sessions I allow clients to explore feelings while challenging them to be their best selves. You may think therapy isn't for you so I will help clarify what you want to achieve and how I can help.

As of 2/9/24 I am currently accepting children 6+, teen and adult clients via telehealth. Staying true to ourselves may be one of the hardest but most important tasks we encounter as we mature into adults. Family, social needs, achievements, anxiety, depression, and many other factors often get in the way of our ability to express ourselves in our fullest capacity. During our time in counseling, you will get to know your truest self, and practice expressing yourself authentically with curiosity and mindfulness.
