I am particularly interesting in working with Gifted children and their parents...doing assessments, determining strengths and weaknesses, and helping families with the special opportunities involved. I also specialize in Couples work, using techniques that are evidence based and effective. I provide private Gifted Testing and ADHD, Learning Differences, and Memory Screening evaluations.

Dr. Westheimer works with individuals of various ages, but has specialized training in the treatment of children and adolescents. Her graduate studies also included a concentration in neuropsychology. Dr. Westheimer's pre-doctoral internship was completed at The Children's Home in Tampa, Florida with an emphasis on adoption preservation, childhood neglect, trauma, and evaluation. She also completed a rotation providing immediate crisis intervention, assessment and referral, and short-term counseling. Her post-doctoral residency was completed at a local forensic private practice where she remained for three years.

Receiving a Master's in 2007 and Doctorate in 2016, my studies have inspired my career. Working for over a decade as a Nationally Certified School Psychologist, and also being a Florida Licensed School Psychologist, I am experienced in conducting psycho-educational evaluations, providing individual/group counseling, and collaborating with educators and families. In New York State, I worked as a School Psychologist in private/public schools for 8 years and as an Associate Trainer with Crisis Prevention Institute for 3 years. Since 2015, I currently work in a Florida public school district and also lead a Crisis Stabilization Team.

I have more than 15 years of experience working with children and adolescents with a wide range of mental health concerns, such as ADHD, trauma, abuse, adoption/foster care, depression, anxiety, behavioral issues, and Autism, just to name a few. I use techniques such as play therapy, art therapy, and traditional talk therapy with my clients, based on their age and preferences.

I specialize in children, teens, young adults and parenting, with 20 years of experience counseling this population.
