Everyday we experience adversities that can add up over our lifetime. Unfortunately, we live in a society that too often has a "forget about it and move on" attitude. I want to help you slow down and really look at how your life journey has impacted your overall mental health. My goal is to create a safe place for you or your child to begin understanding how these stressors are impacting your life. I want to normalize the importance of self awareness, communication and self love.

As a therapist, my hope is to provide a safe space where you are able to be vulnerable without the fear of judgment. I come from a person-centered lens with an understanding of the impact adverse life events have on our overall well-being. Being able to gain a sense of internal safety, while gaining the confidence to know you are able to manage uncomfortable feelings in an adaptive manner not only reduces trauma responses but also boosts efficacy around who you are as a person.

Throughout life’s journey experiencing struggles, sickness, and loss, we sometimes find ourselves in need of the kind of unbiased support and unconditional positive regard that a counselor can provide. We benefit from the sacred space that’s held just for us during therapy, and the healing that occurs in the relationship between ourselves and the counselor, and of course in the healthier relationship we develop with ourselves and others. When we experience the darkness of depression, overwhelming anxiety, trauma, loss, crisis of identity or faith, or even indecision, our personal guidance systems can become temporarily blocked.

As a Marriage and Family therapist, I love working with couples, families, children and individuals who are striving for the life they desire. Throughout our work together, you will learn to better regulate emotions and feelings while improving listening, and communication skills and if applicable, couples’ communication, leading to a more fulfilling relationship or marriage based on trust, enjoyment, teamwork, and intimacy.

I have worked with kids, teens, and young adults as a nurse practitioner for over 12 years. I have experience with various needs ranging from anxiety, depression, eating disorders, ADHD/ADD, Autism, body dysmorphia, gender identity concerns, self-harm, suicidal ideations, sleep disturbances, behavior concerns, school issues, and oppositional defiance, etc. I now offer the above services to adults as well. I spend a lot of time with my clients getting to know them and their needs.

Setbacks are not failures but questions asked of our own desire. Finding the way forward sometimes means exiting first through the back door of the symptom. You may yield to your symptom in order to suffer less (or more), or resist it the way you resist scratching that itch that won’t ever keep you from scratching it again, or you can anesthetize it or otherwise exist while it is simultaneously taking up space within you, speaking with your own body, killing your own time. But you can’t really live with your symptom, can you? In analysis the symptom becomes a most singular path to the peculiarity of your own unprecedented being.

Together we will work to rediscover your sacred relationship with you. I can help you reclaim your identity by empowering you to create a deep, loving relationship with yourself leading you to have empowered relationships with others. I am a direct, pragmatic therapist who will work to process with you and practice skills to manage relationships and life.

My passion is working with children, adolescents, individuals and families in creating a safe and comfortable place to work through their emotional stress while developing the skills to identify their role in the systems around them. I use a holistic, evidence based, and natural conversational approach when working with my clients to help provided them with realistic outcomes. This includes normalizing situations and providing a non-judgmental atmosphere. I work with my clients in creative ways to setup sessions to ensure their experience is individualized to fit their needs.

Today, MIKID employs over 150 trained staff offering support, education, and skills development to families and their children as well as youth and young adults who are experiencing mental health and behavior challenges throughout Arizona and, most recently, Colorado. This is accomplished through MIKID staff providing one-on-one family support, transitional age youth services, peer support, health promotion, support groups, training and education, both individual and community-based living skills, and individual counseling

We were voted Best Mental Health Provider and Best Place to Work in 2023's Best of Pueblo! We were also voted 1st Place in Therapy in Community Votes and we received the Gill Sanchez Award! We offer in-person or telehealth individual, family, and couples therapy for kids, teenagers, and adults. We provide varied approaches, such as EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, play therapy, equine therapy, and much more. The following groups are currently open: Teen girls wilderness, self-compassion, art-based therapy, miscarriage, and acudetox drop-in.
