I consider it an honor to walk alongside my clients on their journey towards healing. My therapy approach is highly collaborative. I value the therapeutic relationship more than any technique or theory itself. Initiating counseling is often a big and difficult step and I do my best to help you feel relaxed, comfortable and welcome. I am passionate about working with clients experiencing loss and grief. Many presenting issues come down to a loss- loss of a loved one, loss of a pregnancy, loss of hopes/dreams, loss of a marriage...and working through loss requires time, connection and a safe place.

If you’re living with ADHD, autism, trauma, OCD, sleep issues, or a mind that never seems to slow down, you’re not alone.
I specialize in neurodivergence and have a deep understanding of how co-occurring conditions like OCD and trauma can add stress and anxiety to your days - while disruptive nighttime routines and racing thoughts contribute to insomnia and sleep difficulties. Together, these dynamics create negative patterns that can leave you feeling stuck and unhappy.

As a certified EMDR and complex trauma therapist, I help adults, couples, and adolescents address the core of their issues to resolve high-stress symptoms including anger, insomnia, depression, anxiety, grief, intrusive memories, substance misuse, suicidal thoughts, and relationship distress.
Is stress, burnout, anxiety, anger, depression, or substance misuse impacting your daily life and affecting your relationships? Therapy should be a proactive process that empowers you to experience results instead of just talking about it over and over again. I specialize in helping you take back control by addressing high-performance stress & environments, burnout, and traumatic events that disrupt your life. Many of my clients lead during emergencies and never thought that they’d be looking for help themselves including military service members, veterans, first responders, medical professionals, and their family members.

I support people moving through seasons of life that bring shifts in family roles, relationships, careers, or long‑held identities. These times can feel unsteady, yet they often create space to reconnect with yourself — the steadier, wiser place within that may have been overshadowed by years of responsibility or expectation. Many people who find their way to me are highly sensitive or used to carrying a lot — high achievers, perfectionists, caregivers, professional helpers who rarely have room for their own needs.

Psychotherapy means “soul healing.” Cultural malaise is all around us, and it is hard to be healthier than our environment. Yet I delight in helping people do just that: it is possible to metabolize our struggles, even our trauma, and come out better and stronger, wiser and kinder. And our places of deepest pain can, over time, not only heal but become medicine for others. My approach is holistic and gentle, yet I also give direct feedback about recurring patterns that may be seeking healing and change. I love working with individuals and couples who are ready to do deep soul work and want to live with greater wholeness and joy.

Life transitions can be difficult to navigate on your own. Sometimes you need someone to talk to. Relationships, past traumatic experiences, grief and loss, depression, and anxiety all bring emotions that can be overwhelming. Over time, negative coping behaviors and destructive patterns may have developed and now stand in the way of your goals and development. As a therapist, Neela Johnson is focused on healing and personal growth.

A flower, whether bud or bloom, is always complete while still unfolding. In the same way, an unbroken wholeness lives at the core of your body and being, waiting to be felt. As a somatic psychotherapist and Realization Process meditation teacher, I guide individuals and partners toward that wholeness with precise yet compassionate practices. We slow down, sense a quiet, inner core, and rest there. From this inner axis, stored tension softens, pain is digested, and an authentic self—steady, warm, unmistakably yours—comes forward. Rather than stepping around difficult emotions or conflicts, we meet them directly.

Sleep or Insomnia Therapists
How effective is treatment for insomnia?
The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.

Are there specific medications for sleep problems?
There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.

Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?
There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.

What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?
Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
