You may have anxiety, OCD or intrusive thoughts.
I decided to become a therapist because of my own struggles with mental health issues especially as an adolescent and young adult. I want to take these awful experiences and use them as motivation to help others. If you are an over thinker, I believe I can help. I work with engineers, executives, health care professionals, teachers, and pretty much any person who is in a profession that tends to reward perfectionism and over analysis.

I work best with clients who are ready to do the work — even if they are tired, uncertain, or unsure where to begin. Many of the people I meet are high-functioning on the outside but feel stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or like they have lost sight of themselves along the way. Sometimes the hardest part is believing change is possible. When you are struggling to hold onto hope, I am honored to hold that hope with you until you can begin to carry it for yourself.

Are you tired of feeling like roommates instead of partners? If you’re exhausted by the 'same old' arguments and the heavy silence that follows, you aren't alone. I specialize in working with couples who feel like they’ve lost the map back to each other. My journey began with my own search for answers—I became a therapist and researcher because I refused to accept that marriage had to be this hard. After a decade of decoding human connection, I’ve helped thousands of couples move from the brink of desperation to a level of intimacy they didn't think was possible. I don't just offer 'talk'—I offer a way out of the cycle.

I work with children and teens who are facing challenges they often can’t control—such as moving between homes, experiencing loss or hurt from someone they love, feeling left out, or putting immense pressure on themselves to be perfect. These struggles can show up in many ways, including emotional outbursts, slammed doors, clinginess, withdrawal, skipped homework, sibling conflict, or testing limits. Some kids try to control their environment, while others over-apologize and carry guilt that’s far too heavy for their age.

Everyone faces challenges in today's fast-paced society. Sometimes, the challenges can feel overwhelming. Therapy can help address issues that interfere with our relationships, goals, happiness and ability to function. Change in behavior does not typically come easily, though. Established thinking and behavior patterns may get us through the day, but they also can prevent us from reaching our full potential. When a client establishes a therapeutic relationship with a counselor, they in essence are saying that merely functioning is not good enough. They want more: increased self-awareness, improved relationships, enhanced professional success, greater personal happiness.

Do you feel stuck in patterns you can’t control? Like feelings show up in ways you can’t think yourself out of? As a trauma therapist, I believe that our bodies and nervous systems are home to memories that continue to impact us in our day-to-day lives. We may still have parts of us that stay in high-alert, ruminating and planning. Or we may have parts that rage, shut down, numb-out, or freeze. In therapy, we learn to honor these patterns and appreciate their service to us. We also work on building a nurturing relationship with our inner child parts, providing them with care and kindly asking for the breath of space.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
