Some of the services I have assisted my clients with include trauma recovery, coping skills for anxiety and depression, anger management skills, substance abuse treatment and family communication.
Unfortunately, I am not currently accepting any new clients at this time. "BE STRONG because things will get better. It may be stormy now, but it never lasts forever." Strength is something we all need help with at times. It is my goal to guide clients through stressful and difficult times in order to help them develop the skills and perspective necessary to manage the constant struggles life hands us all. Anxiety, Depression, Anger , Regret, Guilt, Shame and Addiction are things that can be coped with in order to move on.

I have compassion and understanding of the shock, confusion, anger , sadness and many other emotions that result from losing a loved one.
I have a passion to help those who are hurting; knowing and believing people can learn to understand dynamics and become equipped with the tools needed to move forward. I believe every person entering my office is unique, and my approach is to know and understand the person I am working with. My first and foremost goal for therapy is to provide an atmosphere for the individual to feel comfortable enough to be open, honest and vulnerable; to not feel judged, but listened to. The goal for each session is the person feels they have been heard, appropriate techniques provided, and ideas processed.

I enjoy working with a variety of different people. I appreciate all the complexities of being human. Through a trusting and compassionate relationship there can be healing from many of life’s problems from childhood sexual abuse to recreating life after a divorce to recovering from an affair. Many of my clients both couples and individuals state their relationships and their life is better after therapy. They appreciate the time to pause and reflect. Sometimes they want to make changes or continue what is working.

I believe we are created for relationships, which is why having healthy relational dynamics among family, friends, coworkers, or other individuals is crucial to our well being. There are many obstacles we face in our daily lives. Some situations we can easily navigate, while others can be more challenging and cause us to question ourselves and our ability to persevere and overcome. Life is hard and we are not meant to do it alone. It is important to know that you are not alone in your situation and that there IS help and support for you.

With over 26 years experience, I have learned that healing and change is a process that is unique to each individual. In counseling, we will walk this journey together by identifying, exploring, and working through your experiences and challenges. Whether you experience depression, anxiety, substance use disorders, behavioral addictions, trauma, extreme stress, etc., we will explore ways to manage thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and sensations associated with your life circumstances. Collaboratively, we will develop and identify unique coping strategies to help increase the likelihood that you live the life that you want to live.

Relationships can be a source of great joy and comfort. When they get off track our life becomes unsettled and nothing feels right. I enjoy helping couples get back on track, solve conflicts and reclaim their connection. I do not discriminate against any individual on the basis of race, color, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation or gender identity. I am an attentive listener and am invested in helping you get your relationship back on track.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
