Do you feel misunderstood? I have personally experienced and overcome addiction, marital failure, spiritual uncertainty, and feelings of hopelessness. I understand the fear and anxiety that come with seeing no way out, like you are alone in your despair. My goal is to guide the individual, couple, or family to function effectively. Together we can take steps to achieve what you once believed to be impossible.

Do you struggle with ADHD, trauma, and an overwhelming life? Like you have too many plates spinning in the air, and you're just waiting for them to all come crashing down on you? Do you sometimes wonder if the symptoms you feel in your body are all in your head? Trauma is anything that overwhelms your brain's ability to cope. In addition to being a Trauma and EMDR therapist, I am completing the training and certification process to become a Trauma Yoga and Somatic Experiences and Healing practitioner. I work with young adult and adult clients of all ages to process the negative effects of trauma from both the mind and the body.

"People Start To Heal The Moment They Are Heard." - Cheryl Richardson. The chapters of your past do not have to dictate who you want to be. Recovery is determined by choosing not to stay where you are. It's my desire to help you start writing the next chapters of your life. I find joy when others find hope.

While people are drawn to counseling for different reasons, often it's because someone is in a harder season. Focus areas include anxiety and stress, grief, life transitions, relationships, and self-worth, yet counseling work extends to other areas including depression and postpartum support. I tend to see these trends in counseling: more calm & coping strategies, more comfort & self-compassion, more confidence & clarity, more connectedness & growth, and more grace & truth towards self. Counseling services extend to TN, MS, and GA. I also provide Life Coaching services for couples and individuals anywhere online or in person.

I desire to journey alongside and help others as they begin to piece together their stories and see the beauty in their brokenness. I have been greatly influenced by the Spiritual Root SystemTM, Townsend Institutes Character Structure Development, Attachment Theory, and somatic experiencing. Rather than only looking at the symptoms a person is experiencing, I aspire to go deeper with the client and search through the root causes of their symptoms. Through this deeper dive, my hope is that clients will begin to see their story more clearly and even see redemption in the wounds they have experienced in life.

I love counseling! I would love to walk with YOU and work out solutions to issues causing pain, conflict, and/or broken relationships. I work with everyone and take work with almost all EAPs and honor most insurance payments except Medicare. My primary practice focuses on the enormous value of women. I confront shame and self-blame. I also see teenagers and work with their families as desired.

I believe that everyone has the ability within their self to reach their highest potential. I believe that past experiences or negative messages we have received can cause us to lose our way. I want to help people find their way to their highest potential. I am a very caring considerate person but I can also be very direct. If you are someone who is ready to work hard to be the best you, you can be then we will do well together.

In my personal and professional life, I have found one thing to be true: Life can be hard. I have a passion for supporting others in resolving pain and reclaiming fullness in life. While pain is an inevitable part of the human experience, suffering is optional. I am dedicated to helping individuals, couples, and families heal from relational and other traumas, problematic sexual behaviors, addictions, and intimacy disorders. I see brokenhearted adults and children as they learn to cope with an unstable world. My heart is to heal the broken hearted and give hope where hope was once lost.

You are significant and your story is important. My hope is for you to not only know this but believe it. The pain of feeling forgotten, rejected, or abandoned is often too much to manage. Trauma, grief, and anxiety tend to magnify these uncomfortable feelings and can lead to experiences of shame. At some point, you feel like you can no longer navigate this journey alone. The thing is, I don't think you are meant to carry it by yourself. I see your strength and I can see that you are tired. Inviting someone else in is not a step of weakness, it is absolutely a step of bravery.

Having the opportunity to help people grow and heal is why I became a counselor. Sometimes we need help and that can be hard to ask for. I am a Christian counselor and have been ordained for 14 years. If a person is in a marriage crisis I want to be there to see if we can get thru to the other side. My experience in my own personal life has lead me to this place of helping couples, pre marital counseling, or any other individual who feels lost. Most people need good advice. They need someone who is a third objective party. That's what I am. That's what I enjoy. Helping people see things from a different perspective.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
