As an experienced anxiety & OCD therapist, I believe that you can find freedom from the worries that keep you up at night.
Do you find yourself gripped by anxiety and worry no matter what you do? Maybe you're fed up with overthinking and cycling through worst case scenario fears in your mind, feeling overwhelmed and absent from life or wishing you could just "turn your brain off". Maybe you're tired of asking yourself, "what if... (insert distressing event here)?" You might not even remember a time things didn't feel this way. But one thing is for sure: you're ready for some relief. You're ready to quit worrying all the time. You're ready to feel present and connected to your loved-ones. And most of all, you're ready to enjoy life again.

As a licensed clinical psychologist and faculty member for the International OCD Foundation, I'm proud to lead as the Founding Director of the Nashville OCD & Anxiety Treatment Center (NOATC).
Unfortunately, many clients with OCD have not had proper treatment (or even diagnosis) and may feel that their symptoms are un-treatable. They may have been told that their intrusive thoughts are a reflection of their character or that their compulsions are just habits that they should stop engaging in. If only it were that simple!

As a therapist specializing in OCD, anxiety, and trauma, I know it can be hard to open up about intrusive thoughts or past experiences.
Are you exhausted by your own mind? Maybe it's constant worry or ruminating thoughts that won't let up. Maybe it's a memory or past experience that still feels too close, showing up in ways you didn't expect. Maybe you've gone through a big change, like becoming a mom, or got out of a relationship, and you just don't feel like yourself anymore. You try to be present, but something always pulls you back, leaving you drained and on edge. You're ready for a change. Not just to quiet the noise, but to understand where it's really coming from, so you can finally feel like yourself again. That's exactly what we'll work toward together.

I'm trained on the Exposure and Response Prevention for OCD.
How do I stop the negative chatter in my head? We often experience negative self-deprecating thoughts that have a huge impact on the way we feel and behave. These thoughts make us feel sad, lonely, angry, or anxious, leading to wrong choices or impacting our relationships with the people we love. Navigating through these thoughts and feelings is very difficult. However, you can learn to positively restructure the way you think of the world and yourself. Your life experience is unique and you have the opportunity and capacity to live your best life.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
