I work with married couples who experience infidelity, disconnection, sexual issues, or who have a hard time communicating with one another.
I tend to focus on grief, trauma, young adults, teens, moms and couples. I also work with those in church leadership who are used to serving others. I'm trauma-informed and trained in EMDR and Brainspotting to process trauma that's been stuck. For couples, I tend to work from a Gottman-based or Emotionally Focused Therapy perspective.

Let's be honest, relationships are hard work! Therapy takes intentional effort, vulnerability and persistence to bring about meaningful change in our lives. Before that change can occur, we must first learn what is going on. I want to help you identify the negative patterns in your life and provide tools to replace them with new life-giving actions and transforming truths to bring about healing and restoration in your relationships. Change is possible!

In everyone's journey we are confronted by obstacles, conflict and difficult choices. We need guidance and understanding to assist us in the search for our best self. Self discovery through therapy can be enlightening and empowering. My hope is to help you through this process with empathy and support, premised upon the skills I have learned through life and as a professional counselor. I have received training in Imago Relationship Therapy, domestic abuse, and working with veterans. I was a faculty member at several universities, and a guest speaker at marriage workshops. I have both trained and supervised students in psychology.

Services include weekly sessions and private intensives (multi-hour or multi-day) for couples, singles, and professionals navigating crisis, betrayal, or major transitions.
Feeling distant or stuck in your relationship? Maybe trust has been broken, or every conversation seems to turn into an argument. Even once-loving couples can start living like polite roommates—hurt, lonely, and unsure how to reconnect. I’m one of only three therapists living in Tennessee certified in the Gottman Method for couples therapy—a research-based approach that helps most couples rebuild closeness and communication. I also work with individuals damaged by depression, anxiety or trauma. In my Brentwood office or by tele-health, sessions can usually begin in one week with evening and weekend availability.

Has infidelity nearly destroyed your relationship?
On a personal note, we've been married fourteen years and deeply value our bond, even when our relationship has faced challenges. Challenge doesn't have to mean failure or loss, even after infidelity dismantles the very foundation of a relationship. Real hope can be found and real hope can be cultivated. We're here to guide you on that journey.

December can be a difficult time of year. Even more so if you're struggling in your marriage or relationship. If you're experiencing disconnection, painful feelings, or a crisis threatening your relationship, you don't have to go through it alone. I'm here to help, providing elevated professional guidance and expertise for marital crisis & growth. Clients say my approach is highly relatable and more productive than traditional couples counseling. I've delved deep into the work of researchers like Dr. John Gottman, Dr. Gary Chapman, and Esther Perel, amongst others, often using their findings to guide sessions.

My clients struggle with life just like you. They want more in life and have struggled to find fullness and meaning. They are hurting from wounds from the past, difficulties in present-day relationships, and wrestle with self-identity. Just like you, they have tried everything they can think of to help themselves, perhaps even trying therapy or counseling before. And like you, they want a place to explore life in a nonjudgmental and safe environment.

Infidelity Therapists

How does therapy for infidelity work?

A skilled infidelity therapist will provide a safe space for clients to communicate their feelings and concerns. The goal is to be completely honest about what led to the cheating and how it has affected the entire family to prevent it from recurring in the future. The therapist will help the clients work on rebuilding mutual trust and respect and developing better communication and conflict-resolution skills. If the goal is to remain a couple, clients will learn the “danger signs” for their specific relationship, and they will make a renewed commitment to be faithful.

How long does therapy for infidelity take?

Recovery from infidelity can take time, and it can vary from person to person. Generally, a therapist will want to see the clients at least once a week for around six months. Then the sessions can be arranged as needed, depending on the clients’ individual needs. While therapy may end or shift to an as-needed basis, it can take up to two years or more for some clients to fully recover from infidelity.

How does therapy help the partner who was cheated on?

When a client discovers their partner’s infidelity, their trust in the relationship and in the life they had together may be shattered. They often experience mental health symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, grief, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They don’t always want to stay in the relationship; they may feel ambivalent or may even want to leave. Therapy gives these clients a safe and healthy way to communicate all of their complicated emotions and concerns.

How does therapy help the partner who committed infidelity?

Infidelity often occurs when one or both partners’ emotional needs are not being met in the relationship. Therapy can help this client understand why they cheated and figure out how to address those unmet needs without resorting to infidelity in the future. This can lessen (but not entirely eliminate) the risk of repeated infidelity. Clients who cheat may also feel intense guilt about deceiving their partners, a sentiment that they can work through in therapy.
