I work with adults and children who may experience the world differently, often due to factors such as autism, ADHD, identity, trauma, stage of life, mental health issues, or chronic illness. While I am an intern therapist with a lot to learn, I'm firm in my belief that everyone deserves and desires the chance to be seen, understood, and accepted, as part of their healing and growth. For many clients learning to reconnect with themselves, creativity, understanding, and empowerment may lend to self-awareness and grounding, positively impacting not only one's relationship with self, but with others.

I provide virtual therapy in Tennessee. My focus is on serving young adults and adults navigating life transitions. I believe that the emotions we are most tempted to run away from– fear, grief, anger– exist to tell us about the kind of life we want. I help clients learn to identify and listen to their emotions rather than being overwhelmed or shut down. I use evidence-based approaches to treat depression, anxiety, trauma and PTSD, and eating disorders. We will also work together to increase mindfulness and self-compassion and strengthen the relationships in your life.

When relationships are marked by conflict, disconnection, or unresolved pain, they are often shaped by experiences and attachment wounds carried over time. Many people come to therapy feeling stuck—navigating relational stress, emotional or sexual trauma, or spiritual questions that affect how they connect with others and with God. Beneath these struggles is a desire for growth, clarity, and deeper connection - especially shame free. Change isn’t easy, and life can feel overwhelming or isolating. If you’re tired of painful cycles, desire more wisdom and growth towards healthy relationships, you don’t have to do it alone.

I believe that people are made to flourish in healthy relationships. We experience the most pain and difficulties in these relationships and often shut off our hearts to try and survive. Addiction, trauma, anxiety, grief, and a host of other troubles may set our lives back and in a downward spiral. I love to work with Christians who want to recover the life God has called them to. I use a person-centered approach to engage with people’s stories and relationships focusing on core emotions and approaches for achieving personal transformation. "In our weakness, His power is made known."

For me, therapy is a collaborative journey—a chance to explore, heal, and grow together. I invite my clients to dig into the areas of their lives where they feel “stuck.” Often, we find that these patterns of being stuck were formed in childhood as a way to meet our needs for safety and security. While these strategies may have been helpful at the time, they can later get in the way of deeper connections with ourselves and others. In our work together, I help my clients identify these patterns, challenge limiting beliefs, and gently guide them toward healing and transformation.

You may be functioning on the outside but feel internally overwhelmed, tense, or emotionally shut down. Your mind doesn’t slow down, small things feel heavy, and avoiding tasks or conversations has become easier than dealing with them. You might be carrying anxiety, unresolved experiences, or a sense that something isn’t right, but you can’t quite name it. Therapy can help you understand what’s happening beneath the surface and learn how to respond differently, rather than just pushing through.

Life can come with many unexpected obstacles which can cause some overwhelming experiences. Oftentimes, our instinct is to retreat when faced with negative experiences or bury them deep inside. Some of us can feel like if we seek help, we will be a burden to others which makes sitting with that feeling even more difficult. As an African American woman, I understand the importance of having someone to be a source of healing and support when you're tired of fighting to move forward alone. I'm here to serve clients on a journey toward restoration and relief in a collaborative and safe environment.

Christian Therapists
Why is it important for a therapist to be culturally sensitive?
Therapists and clients don’t need to share the same belief system or background to be able to work effectively together, but a therapist whose training includes a focus on cultural competence may be better able to form a therapeutic bond with individuals from a range of backgrounds, as they will have experience in tailoring their approach to each client—and will be prepared to acknowledge and consider the effects of culture, religion, and other factors on each individual.
Why is it important to find a therapist sensitive to Christian values?
Each person brings a unique history and background to therapy, making it important to find a licensed therapist who is trained in a broad range of treatment modalities. In addition, for people who grow up in a faith tradition that strongly influences the way they conduct their everyday life, finding a therapist who understands or shares that background can ease the disclosure of sensitive information and facilitate the therapeutic process. For some clients, a Christian therapist is likely to incorporate faith-based principles into emotional healing techniques.
How do I recognize an effective Christian therapist?
Christian therapists are licensed mental health professionals—holding a master’s or doctoral degree in medicine, nursing, psychology, counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy—who are also familiar with Christian beliefs and values. They have an understanding of the importance that Christian principles play in the lives of individuals and families, which allows them to be especially sensitive to the kinds of struggles that can affect daily functioning. Like all effective therapists, a Christian therapist will have undergone training and certification in a variety of treatment modalities that help people through crises and enable them to master the challenges of life.
Why might someone feel comfortable with a Christian therapist?
While training, qualifications, and experience are always important, research has long established that a strong alliance between client and therapist is a major contributor to therapeutic success. An alliance is likely to be strengthened with a therapist who not only is responsive to questions and concerns but also shares a client’s faith and values. Sensitivity to spiritual matters as well as to everyday struggles can provide a welcome sense of safety and contribute to the bond between client and therapist, both of which support the therapeutic process.
Who is included in Psychology Today’s directory of Christian therapists?
The directory of Christian therapists includes professionals who have shared their background in their profiles. However, not all therapists choose to disclose this information, and they may not appear in search results for this reason. The directory also shows therapists who indicate that they have extensive experience working with Christian clients, regardless of their own background or religious affiliation.
