Does it feel like you and your partner are more like roommates than a couple? Maybe the spark is gone, conversations feel surface-level, or you're stuck in the same arguments on repeat. Maybe you barely talk anymore, or it’s all about schedules, kids, & chores. You miss the connection you used to have but aren’t sure how to get back there. You’re not alone. Many couples face challenges like miscommunication, frequent arguments, or feeling disconnected. Pressures of daily life can leave you feeling stuck, frustrated, & unsure how to move forward. I help couples rebuild emotional closeness, improve communication, & find their way back

It's hard to show up the way you want to when you are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck or emotionally exhausted. You may be dealing with stress, relationship issues, depression, past trauma, anxiety or a life transition that has left you feeling off balance. You may try and present as fine on the outside while feeling disconnected or not like yourself internally. Therapy can be a space to slow down, make sense of what’s happening, and begin feeling more grounded again.

Sometimes in life, you come to a place where you feel like you can no longer manage stress and challenges. Maybe you’re experiencing a transition, relationship difficulties, a new role, or you just feel stuck. You have been doing your best to get through each day, but it’s just not enough. You are tired of going through life depressed, lonely, anxious, or insecure, but you don’t know what change to make or where to start. Please know that you do not have to continue feeling this way or go through this alone! It is possible to feel like yourself again, and therapy is a great place to start.

I decided to become a therapist because of my own struggles with mental health issues especially as an adolescent and young adult. I want to take these awful experiences and use them as motivation to help others. If you are an over thinker, I believe I can help. I work with engineers, executives, health care professionals, teachers, and pretty much any person who is in a profession that tends to reward perfectionism and over analysis.

Life can feel overwhelming when you’re trying to manage everything on your own. You may feel anxious, sad, emotionally drained, or unsure where to turn, even if you’re still showing up and functioning day to day. When stress, low mood, or constant worry start to interfere with your peace, it can be hard to know where to begin. I help adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, stress, self-esteem concerns, mood changes, family dynamics, and major life transitions. Many of my clients describe feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from themselves, and are looking for a safe place to talk things through and feel better.

You may be at a point in your life where something deeper is asking for your attention. You’re reflective, curious, and aware that old patterns or unanswered questions are surfacing. Relationships may feel strained, parenthood may have brought unexpected emotions, or you may be juggling many roles while feeling disconnected from yourself. On the outside, things may look fine, yet internally you sense a quiet pull toward understanding yourself more fully and tending to what needs care and healing.

Each individual person has unique gifts and positive personal attributes to discover within themselves. Therapy can be a place to identify personal strengths or to begin to heal from pain. In my approach to therapy, the client is always the expert on their own lives. The most important part of my job is to partner with clients to discover what might be getting in the way of personal growth or relationship satisfaction.

I'm in-network for Cigna, Aetna, and Blue Cross (BCBS).
Maybe you’ve been through something that changed you — a loss, a betrayal, a childhood that never felt safe — and no matter how hard you try, it’s hard to move forward. As an EMDR practitioner and one of only three certified TIST therapists in Tennessee, I specialize in helping people untangle the effects of trauma so they can begin to feel more whole, grounded, and connected to who they truly are — even if they’ve never had the chance to feel that way before. My approach is warm, collaborative, and rooted in both science and compassion. Trauma isn’t just about what happened — it’s about what’s still happening inside you.

Does insurance cover therapy, prescriptions and other behavioral health services?
In general, yes. Laws in the U.S. require insurers to cover essential behavioral health care at the same level as other health care services. Most health plans require a medical diagnosis and treatments that are evidence based and medically essential. This means that life coaching and alternative therapies are not covered, nor is therapy without a diagnosis. Call the number on the back or your insurance card or visit your insurance company's website to review your Summary of Benefits. If you have insurance through your employer, your Human Resources department may also be able to answer questions.

How much does therapy cost with insurance?
The cost of therapy depends on your region, how much training and experience your therapist has, and the type of treatment. The rate for talk therapy generally falls between $100 and $250. For a client seeing an in-network provider, the cost of therapy is often similar to the cost of other health care services. Clients pay co-pays and may need to satisfy a plan’s deductible before benefits kick in.

What is the difference between In-Network and Out-of-Network insurance coverage?
An in-network provider has contracted with an insurer to get paid directly for services, and to accept the insurer’s rate of compensation. Clients are responsible for deductibles and copays. If a therapist is out of network, that means that the client pays the therapist directly for services at the therapist’s regular fee. Out-of-Network providers often give clients a receipt so that they can file for partial reimbursement with their insurance company.

Is it difficult to find an In-Network therapist?
It is not unusual for therapists to limit the number of insurance patients in their practice, so it’s important to check in-network availability when you schedule your first appointment. In regions and times where therapy is in high demand it may take longer to get scheduled with an in-network therapist.

What is the difference between HMO and PPO insurance plans?
HMO health plans only cover in-network services, there is no reimbursement for out-of-network providers. PPO plans often cover both in- and out-of-network services, though the client may pay more for out-of-network services.

What is a Superbill?
A superbill is a receipt for therapy services. It provides all the information required by insurance companies to reimburse you for out-of-network services, including the diagnostic codes for your care, the amount paid, and the dates and duration of care.

Does insurance cover Online therapy?
Many therapists who shifted their practice to online therapy during the pandemic have kept that arrangement. And most insurers continue to cover telehealth services, with a few exceptions. Preventive care (such as an annual depression screening) is often required to be in-person to be covered, and some states require prescribers of controlled substances to see those patients in person.

Does insurance cover Group therapy?
Many insurance plans provide coverage for group therapy provided there is a medical diagnosis for group members, but there are some noteworthy exceptions. For example, Medicare does not always cover group therapy. Group therapy tends to cost less than individual therapy.

Does insurance cover Couples therapy?
Most insurance companies do not cover the cost of couples therapy because there is no medical diagnosis or medically necessary treatment. However, a few plans will offer a limited benefit, so it is still worth checking with your insurance company. Sometimes therapy is covered for a couple when one person has a diagnosis and another family member joins them for joint therapy, but it is considered therapy for the medical condition that includes a family member as a listener or helper, not couples counseling. Without insurance, most clients pay between $100-300 per 60-90 min session for couples therapy. Often clients can find classes or workshops that make it more affordable to work on their relationship. And some employers offer benefit plans that help defray the cost of couples therapy. Learn more about Insurance Coverage and Finding Affordable Therapy
