As humans, we are wired to seek out pleasurable and passionate experiences, but often in this pursuit, something gets in the way of our enjoyment: shame, stigma, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues...the list goes on. I believe sexuality is a very important part of life, but often we experience mental and emotional struggles associated with who we're having sex with, how often, and how we do it. As a sex-positive and LGBTQIA+ allied counselor, I am passionate about empowering my clients to live their most authentic lives, free of shame, doubt, and the other things that get in the way of our pursuit of pleasure.

Are you struggling with the relationships in your life? Do you feel stuck in how to move forward and build healthier connections? Relationships are complex, and sometimes we need help navigating them. It takes courage to talk about relationship issues, especially for those with marginalized identities. I work with individuals, couples, and families to assist them in building and maintaining stronger connections. I provide an affirming space to members of the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities, as well as polyamorous, mixed race, divorced, and blended families. My practice is sex positive .

Living in stressful times can make it feel like mental health has to be put on the back burner but I believe in prioritizing joy and rest to endure what seems impossible. Using evidence-based, trauma-informed practices, I work with clients to find their true selves and help strip away external stressors so they feel prepared to take on life. I enjoy helping solo clients and any type of partner arrangement in navigating difficult conversations and establishing boundaries. It is normal for the therapy process to feel a bit intimidating but my sessions are informal and individually tailored. Neurodiverse? You'll be right at home!

Dorothy (she/her) received a Master’s Degree in 2007 and PhD in Clinical Psychology in 2017, from Alliant International University. Dorothy has been working in a variety of mental health capacities since 2006. Dorothy has broad experience providing child, adolescent, individual, group, family, and couples therapy. Dorothy is an LGBTQ+ ally, is sex-positive, and accepting of all clients from all cultures and backgrounds. Dorothy accepts Insurance, EAP referrals, HSA/FSA and Private Pay. Her private-pay fee is $90/session, with some limited sliding scale slots starting at $60.

I recognize that the journey that brought you to therapy may not have been an easy one. I work to assist you in your self-exploration, learning, and growth by creating a safe, nurturing, respectful, yet challenging environment. I prioritize your autonomy and personal responsibility throughout the healing process.

My goal is to help you love yourself for who you truly are. This can take the form of identifying who you truly are rather than attempting to fit into the boxes you feel others want you to be. I have a passion for working with individuals who have experienced trauma. And helping couples reconnect and understand each other deeper to stop the same arguments from occurring . I want to help you feel more confident navigating the world while feeling safe, less anxious, and able to stop those constant negative thoughts that can be paralyzing at times. I am trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and other trauma modalities

Diego Balin was born in Brazil and moved to the United States in 2010. He has had the opportunity to live in Boston, Massachusetts, and South Florida, before finally settling in the Nashville area. He has 15 combined years of experience working with children, teens, and parents as a caregiver, educator, and mentor, and is an RBT. His goal as a counselor is to help individuals to deal with the difficult challenges that life can bring by offering a safe, non-judgmental space for self-exploration
