Healing and growing is a complicated affair. Changes can be unpredictable and frightening, but facing our fears is the only path to complete healing. A counselor is a companion and an ally through the journey. A mirror that helps us see ourselves better, that can help us change the way we see the world and that gives us the opportunity to modify what bother us.

If you grew up needing to be “the good one,” felt invisible or misunderstood, or managed others’ emotions, you may now feel stuck in people-pleasing, perfectionism, or self-doubt. Many of my clients are insightful, sensitive adults who learned these strategies to survive difficult family dynamics and are now ready to understand themselves and live with greater ease. In therapy, we explore how the past shaped your relationships and gently release survival patterns through compassionate, trauma-informed, body-based work so you can reconnect with your needs, grieve what you didn’t receive, and begin trusting yourself.

I work with folks feeling overwhelmed, disconnected from themselves, or questioning their reality after difficult relationships, major life transitions, or long-standing emotional stress. They may be navigating anxiety, mood changes, identity shifts, or the impact of betrayal or emotionally harmful dynamics, and are seeking clarity, healing, and a renewed sense of self-trust. With over 14 years of combined experience in education, social work, and mental health, I offer a collaborative, compassionate space to explore these experiences, make meaning of what you’ve been through, and move toward greater stability, growth, and healing.

I have special clinical interest in attachment & relationship issues, life transitions, self-esteem, and trauma.
In session, I utilize modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Attachment theory, Mindfulness and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Authenticity and humor are also essential pieces of my practice. I do not believe therapy is “one size fits all,” and I aim to tailor the experience to meet my clients’ needs.

I have an extensive background in trauma, anxiety, oppositional defiant disorder, depression, low self-esteem, schema development, psychosis, mood disorders, emotional dysregulation, and people-pleasing.
Who are you? No really who are you underneath it all? Underneath the shame, the anxiety, the people-pleasing, the depression, and the long-lasting trauma? Your patterns tell a story, the way you carry yourself tells a story, the way you interact with others tell a story, and most importantly, the way you interact with yourself tells a story. Every intricate detail of your life tells a major story. Since childhood we have been embedded with ideas of who and what we are. By the time we reach adulthood we become a melting pot of ideas from society, family and social media. What do you have to say about you?

Over time, many of us have sacrificed authenticity for connection. Maybe that’s meant pulling back- hiding your more sensitive or vulnerable sides in order to feel a sense of acceptance or safety. Maybe that’s meant heightening parts of yourself by over-performing in roles that feel like they earn you more love and appreciation, like being the family care-taker. These ways of navigating relationships are adaptive, and all too often get reinforced by those around us in both spoken and unspoken ways. However, this may leave you feeling out of touch with your own needs, desires, and intuition.

I am passionate about working with couples and families from all walks of life and all forms as they face challenges such as relationship concerns, self-esteem issues, major life transitions, or the complexities of grief.
I am currently a student pursuing a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy, and my therapeutic approach is rooted in a narrative lens. I believe that the stories we tell ourselves, and those that society has impressed upon us, often cease to serve us. These narratives can sometimes become restrictive, preventing us from living authentically. Together, we will embark on a journey to re-author your story, crafting a narrative that truly resonates with your authentic self and current aspirations. My goal is to provide a calm, inviting, non-judgmental space where you feel heard and empowered to move toward growth and healing.

Self Esteem Therapists

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?

When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?

Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?

Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
