I am a Clinical Psychologist and I work well with individuals who are interested in developing deeper knowledge of themselves, their relationships, and those around them. Together with my clients, I seek to understand each person in order to promote healing and healthier living going forward. Clients who benefit from my method are verbal, insight-oriented, and motivated to grow into the healthiest version of themselves they can become. Clients often come with symptoms such as anxiety or depression, but once they feel some relief they choose to explore the underlying reasons for these symptoms.

Life’s transitions often stir complex emotions—grief, uncertainty, identity struggles, and unresolved trauma. Many of the individuals I work with carry the weight of personal, cultural, or intergenerational experiences that have shaped how they see themselves and relate to the world. They seek a space where their full story can be seen and honored—a space to make sense of emotional pain, heal relational wounds, and reconnect with their authentic selves.

Are you struggling with managing drugs or alcohol? Are you having a lot of conflict with your loved ones? Do you feel unhappy with yourself and your circumstances in life? You likely have tried many times to feel better but only end up feeling worse. This makes it difficult for you to be understood by others because they don't understand your struggle. I commonly see people who have a difficult time cutting back on addictive behaviors, feel excessive guilt for their actions, and have a hard time managing the pressures of work. If you relate to this, then you are not alone. I work with many others who have the same struggles.

Are you a people pleaser? Do you have a pattern of one-sided relationships? Do you find yourself at times “walking on eggshells” just to keep the peace? Do you feel as if it your duty to help everyone get through their problems to the point of sacrificing your own needs? Sometimes, the things we do in our relationships to help others end up causing us to hurt ourselves. That hurt can manifest in different ways including, but not limited to loss of energy and interest in pleasurable activities, frequent mood changes, and lack of focus and concentrating on important day to day tasks.

If you’re anything like me, and I suspect you are, you’re searching for “the real." I spent 20 years in the unhealthy trenches of the music and restaurant industries, searching. I’m a human, and so are you. Maybe things that once worked for you just aren’t working anymore. I’ve been there. As complicated as things get, it’s actually pretty simple. We're born, and we need to feel safe. But reality is imperfect, and we don't feel safe! We have healthy needs that don't get met. We learn to submerge our feelings and control other people. But that doesn't work. It gets heavy. So here's what I can offer you:

Psychoanalytic Therapists
Does psychoanalytic therapy work?
Psychoanalytic therapy derives from the work of Sigmund Freud. In this type of therapy, discovering buried thoughts and emotions from the unconscious will help a person work through their difficulties and negative behaviors. Research shows that psychoanalytic therapy can be highly effective, with patients reporting improvement in mood, quality of life, and overall well-being.
How long are people typically in psychoanalytic therapy?
Traditional psychoanalysis is in-depth and is conducted in five sessions every week. Today, modern psychoanalytic therapy is less intense and normally incorporates as few as one or two sessions a week. In some cases, positive change can occur quickly. However, if the condition, difficulty, or behavior is deep-seated, improvement may require many months or years of therapy.
Is psychoanalytic therapy suitable for young people?
Children and adolescents can benefit from this type of therapy. Many kids and teens are often unable to form and communicate their thoughts and emotions. Psychoanalytic therapy uses specific techniques such as dream analysis, symbolism, and free association or word association; all of which can be useful tools for less-communicative young people. Through this therapy, a patient will hopefully make connections between what they feel inside and how the world works outside.
Can psychoanalytic therapy be done online?
Modern-day psychoanalytic therapy is very different from traditional psychoanalysis. While an individual can sit face-to-face with the psychoanalyst for multiple sessions a week, they do not have to. Today, psychoanalytic therapy can be effectively conducted online or by phone. The key is that the individual confronts what is repressed and avoided, and this can be done whether in person or over online video.
