I imagine scrolling through pages of online profiles is not the best use of your time, and unfortunately it will be difficult to know if myself or any other therapist is a good fit based on their bio. What I can tell you that should hopefully be a good first gauge is 1. I am straightforward and honest. If you want my opinion I’ll give it. 2 If you want to heal, I will help but it may not always feel good. 3. I do what works, not what “should” work, because there isn’t a one size fits all therapy model. 4. I don’t get overwhelmed easily, so if you think you’re chaotic, complicated, “too much," we will likely be a good fit.

My primary specialty is narcissistic abuse (NA).
Update: Greetings! I'm getting my psychiatric prescriptive privileges, so if not heard back from me, this is why! Please reach back out in May and I'll (hopefully) be able to see you; however, in May and ongoing, I'll only be taking virtual clients! I've specialized in Narcissistic Abuse for over 8 years; many specialties have been byproducts. I will also only be accepting cash pay while I'm in school due to time. My rate is $100; this is significantly lower than most specialists, who do not usually take insurance and who's rate averages at least $150 and up. I did this to try to help reduce barriers for clients.

I have worked extensively with trauma, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, behavioral issues, personality disorders , relationship and family issues, grief and loss, anger issues, and multicultural issues.
You and I both know that life can feel unbelievably messy, unpredictable and chaotic. It's easy to get lost in the frenetic juggling of home life, work life and relationships. You can lose your sense of purpose, direction and even who you are. Experiencing some measure of difficulty, distress and pain IS life, but what happens when your usual ways of coping no longer work? It can be all too easy to surrender to the unrelenting waves of frustration, despair and disillusionment when faced with difficult experiences.

I have specific education, training, and experience treating individuals with eating disorders, trauma, personality disorders , suicidal thoughts, and self-harm.
My clients present with a variety of mental health concerns and life challenges. I commonly work with individuals who numb their emotions with unhealthy or impulsive behaviors; I also see clients for support with managing difficult relationships, dealing with stressors, or navigating life transitions. My clients tend to need to find safety in experiencing their emotions, to clarify their boundaries and goals, and to learn to communicate assertively. My clients tend to want coping skills for managing difficult emotions effectively, and guidance for how to take intentional action towards their values and goals.

Imani Behavioral Health was started in May of 2018 as a way to serve the community with a multicultural team of professionals providing quality services through a multitude of therapeutic specialties. Due to the growing needs of the community; we now have three offices with two in Clarksville (933 Tracy Lane suite D & 1725 Wilma Rudolph Suite 1) and one in Nashville (404 BNA Dr. Suite 200)!

Personality Disorders Therapists

What are the common treatment options for personality disorders?

Personality disorders are typically treated with psychotherapy, sometimes in conjunction with medication. Therapy can help people with personality disorders develop skills to tolerate difficult emotions, navigate interpersonal relationships, and solidify their sense of self. Medications can treat symptoms that co-occur with the disorder, such as depression, anger, aggression, and impulsivity.

When to seek treatment for personality disorders?

Even though treatment for personality disorders can be an uphill battle, it’s best to seek help if you suspect that you or a loved one is struggling with one, because personality disorders can create substantial problems in life. Symptoms depend on the specific disorder, but overall signs of personality disorders include consistent difficulty maintaining close relationships, dramatic variations in self-esteem, and an unstable sense of identity.

How long does therapy take for personality disorders?

The timeline for treating personality disorders isn’t as clear-cut as it is for other disorders. Change can be difficult, taking from around one year to five, 10, or more. The key is finding a therapist who has extensive experience treating the relevant disorder. For example, a psychologist who specializes in narcissistic personality disorder has specific communication strategies that allow them to sustain the relationship and be more effective with narcissistic patients.

Can therapy help people with personality disorders?

Research suggests that for those who are motivated to address concerns or interpersonal conflict related to a personality disorder, therapy is far more effective than no treatment, and that most people in therapy see improvements. However, since personality disorders involve entrenched elements of identity, they are less responsive to treatment than are other mental health conditions. Finding an expert who has extensive experience working with a given personality disorder is one factor that increases the likelihood of successful treatment.
