I also have extensive experience around relational conflict as well as with working with those affected by Narcissistic Personality Disorder and Bipolar Disorder.
I am currently accepting a limited number of new clients living in Tennessee, Florida, Arizona, and Wisconsin for weekday daytime telehealth appointments. My mission is for each client to find their true self and voice and see that so many of our negative storylines and scripts are just programming we have picked up throughout our lives. My heart is to follow each client's lead on where he or she needs to go versus my own agenda and/or preferences. I believe that it is in allowing space for our experiences of our full humanity that we realize that at our most fundamental level our essence is actually good and true.

I work with individuals and partners navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship distress - including those impacted by loved ones with high narcissistic traits.
If you’re longing for meaningful change in how you see yourself and connect with others, you’re not alone. You may hold yourself to high standards, struggle to feel satisfied, or feel stuck despite your efforts. Early criticism or unrealistic expectations can leave a harsh inner voice that’s hard to quiet. Coping habits that once helped may now feel limiting. Therapy offers a compassionate space to understand these patterns, build self-trust, and move toward greater clarity, connection, and purpose.

My mission is to create a safe space for individuals to find healing, freedom, and self-acceptance. I help my clients unlearn negative beliefs and begin to change relationship patterns that no longer serve them. I work well with people pleasers, people who struggle to set boundaries, or people who chronically sacrifice themselves for others. When we are able to know what we need and set limits in our relationships, we enhance our emotional well-being and our relationships become healthier.

In my 49 years of practice as a psychologist, in Tennessee, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and New Hampshire, I have had the honor and privilege of working with so many patients on their paths of exploration, personal growth, and healing. My approach is grounded in psychodynamic, existential, and Buddhist theories, with a focus on integrating mindfulness and compassion with self and others. It is my belief that the quality of the psychotherapy relationship between therapist and patient is the principal healing force in treatment. Thus, I do my best to form a good and ethical therapeutic relationship with each of my patients.

CLARITY, PEACE of MIND, CONFIDENCE, JOY and a SKILL SET by which to create and sustain a happier, healthier life, sound good? Let's face it, despite our best efforts life gets crazy at times. We can ride the slow gradual wave of disconnectedness until one day we wake up wondering "How the heck did I get here?!" Without warning we find ourselves in what I call an "uncomfortable comfortable." This turbulence is a result of life unfolding in ways we never imagined. Situations we've tried our best to "deal with" because "that's just life."

For the past fifteen years, I have concentrated primarily on clients who have experienced emotional abuse from having been involved with a person who has Narcissistic Personality Disorder.
If you have lost yourself due to being involved in a toxic relationship, you may have lost sight of who you really are and what you really need for happiness and health. I assist clients in identifying and changing dysfunctional patterns of behaviors and negative thought loops. I help clients eliminate the negative energy created by emotional abuse.

Narcissistic Personality (NPD) Therapists
What type of therapy is best for narcissistic personality disorder?
Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is best treated with talk therapy, which could involve cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, schema therapy, gestalt therapy, or similar approaches. A therapist will help a patient uncover the feelings that may drive their behavior and discover how to engage with themselves and those around them with greater empathy and understanding, fewer demands, and less defensiveness, with the goal of developing a more authentic sense of self that enables healthier relationships.

How do therapists treat NPD?
By developing a strong therapeutic relationship, and continually focusing patients on relationships, community, and connection, a therapist, through talk therapy, may be able to help someone with NPD change. In sessions, a therapist will help an individual achieve relief from their current stressors, including the treatment of co-occurring conditions such as anxiety or depression. A therapist may also help an individual to recognize unhealthy coping mechanisms, learn new ways of interacting with others, and eventually become able to feel and display empathy.

Can a narcissist be cured with therapy?
Therapy can be effective. After a serious setback or great loss, someone with NPD may be forced to recognize that they are not immune to life’s challenges. That can spur feelings of melancholy and depression that lead them to seek professional help. Once an individual decides to seek help, they have already taken a step that the majority of those with NPD never will. Still, people with NPD often quit therapy as they naturally resist feeling vulnerable, being challenged, or admitting to flaws.

How can you get narcissistic personality disorder treatment for someone?
It is notoriously difficult to convince someone with NPD to seek help. With their feelings of superiority, they may be unlikely to recognize or acknowledge that they have a problem, or that their problem is narcissism. Sometimes, they are aware that they are arrogant and that others resent them but they don’t see it as a problem because they are convinced of their superiority. People with NPD have trouble maintaining relationships, but family members and others who do feel close to them, and whose presence they value, may be able to encourage them to seek therapy.
