Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) Therapists in Nashville, TN
Additionally, we have received intensive training in Exposure Response and Prevention Therapy ( ERP)—the gold standard treatment for OCD.
The greatest challenges often lead to the most meaningful growth. OCD therapy can be difficult work, but you won’t face it alone. I provide a safe, inclusive space free of judgment or discrimination. Together, we’ll identify patterns, triggers, and vulnerabilities, then work through them step by step using structured exposure techniques. Having recognized OCD traits in myself, I understand the process from both sides. I also treat schizophrenia, autism, depression, generalized and social anxiety, and borderline personality disorder.

You’re standing at a crossroads — maybe life is pushing you into a new season, like starting school, switching careers, or simply realizing the way things have been… isn’t working anymore. Change is exciting, but let’s be real — it’s also overwhelming. You don’t have to navigate it alone.

Life brings challenges and relationships than can shift our paths in unexpected ways and leave us stuck. Often, the things that keep us stuck are rooted in the deeper experiences, the trauma that impacts how we show up, the anxiety that keeps us on edge, or obsessive thoughts that make it hard to trust ourselves. These experiences can play a large role in how we react, and our ability to feel close to who we care about. It is not something you have to navigate alone.

Have you ever been told your emotions are “too much”? Maybe you’ve felt like you’re stuck in a loop of self-doubt, hopelessness, or even thoughts of giving up. I see you. And I want you to know things can get better. For the past decade, I have helped thousands of people emerge from hopelessness, suicidal ideation and the burden of unbearable pain into a life that they love using Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Life is hard. I know it is. I went through DBT as a client before I became a DBT therapist. And it saved my life. I want you to be filled with hope that DBT really can help and I can show you how.

I'm trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure & Response Prevention ( ERP), using a Person-Centered (Rogerian) approach.
"Do you see me? Do you hear me? Does what I say mean anything to you?" This is something Oprah Winfrey believes every person wants to know, and I couldn't agree more. I am so glad you're here. Reaching out for support can be hard sometimes. Being vulnerable enough to show up for ourselves and allow another person to witness that is a courageous thing. Whether you're here because someone suggested you try therapy, you've been in therapy for decades or you're somewhere in between, I'm ready to listen. And not only am I here to listen, I'm here to support and challenge you to do that hard thing or even finally face that fear.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) Therapists
Do I need exposure and response prevention therapy?
Many clients decide to seek help for obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors when these symptoms are distressing enough to disrupt everyday life. Any thoughts or behaviors that cause friction in close relationships are also worth addressing. In addition, the client’s symptoms don’t have to be severe for them to benefit from ERP therapy.
Is exposure and response prevention therapy part of cognitive behavioral therapy?
Exposure and response prevention is one specific type of CBT that focuses on behavioral change in response to triggering stimuli. It is related to exposure therapy but adds an additional component of preventing compulsive and harmful responses.
How long does exposure and response prevention therapy take?
While every patient is different, exposure and response prevention therapy typically lasts around 12 sessions, although some treatments can take longer. A therapist will determine if the treatment is complete based on how the client faces their fears, particularly the strongest ones. When a client feels less anxiety about stimuli that once evoked terror or distress, that is generally an indication that they are nearing the end of ERP therapy.
What are the limitations of exposure and response prevention therapy?
The most common pitfalls of exposure and response prevention therapy include not addressing a client’s core fears, allowing the client to avoid their most distressing stimuli, and using imaginary exposure when the client requires real-life exposure (and vice versa). ERP therapy is most effective when the client commits to the full course of treatment; if the client stops early or doesn’t practice what they have learned outside of therapy sessions, they are less likely to have successful outcomes.
