Each individual person has unique gifts and positive personal attributes to discover within themselves. Therapy can be a place to identify personal strengths or to begin to heal from pain. In my approach to therapy, the client is always the expert on their own lives. The most important part of my job is to partner with clients to discover what might be getting in the way of personal growth or relationship satisfaction.

Life can be difficult at times. Perhaps you are wanting to make some changes in your life, or relationship. I believe that most of us CAN make the changes we deeply want to, particularly if we have a kind and knowledgeable advocate to that process. You may have reservations about asking for support. Know that when you do, you are bravely moving yourself forward to a better tomorrow. I strive to be a compassionate, trustworthy, and enthusiastic partner to my clients' growth processes.

I was raised in the diverse melting pot of New York City as a first-generation Chinese American, born to parents who emigrated from Hong Kong. After college, I moved to Nashville, where I had the wonderful privilege of traveling the world as a musician. These experiences afforded me the unique opportunity to hear thousands of people’s stories, from depression, suicide, grief, and addiction to hope found amidst it all. Through these stories, as well as my own, I came to realize the powerful gift of therapy and the difference that occurs when we come to understand our intrinsic worth and capacity to be seen, heard, known, and loved.

I am a Certified Emotionally Focused Therapist who helps struggling creative professionals find hope.
You feel tired, overwhelmed and you wish you could shake that feeling of dread that keeps following you around. Your passions feel distant and hidden from you. You feel like everyone else has it figured out better than you and you keep catching yourself beating yourself up over it. It feels like nothing you do is good enough and you are constantly trying to keep up. You thought it would be different by now and you feel like it's your fault. You find yourself trying to numb the pain but deep down you know it's not helping. Something has to change.

Relational. Reverent. Real. These are elements I bring to the path. We don't heal or thrive in isolation. I invite you to connect with your senses, your body, and the present moment. I invite both sides of the brain into the room. I invite your past and future to meet you here. I use tools like somatic and experiential therapy, archetypes, metaphor, and guided mindfulness to explore your Self, your surroundings, your purpose, and relationship to your loved ones. My work varies but I often work with perfectionists, abuse survivors, and creatives. "You feel grounded in the Earth." and "I can tell you anything." is feedback I receive.

I love helping young people feel seen, supported, and understood! That’s why I’m passionate about walking alongside children, teens, and college aged individuals as they navigate behavior challenges, anxiety, family conflict, life transitions, and self-esteem struggles. I truly believe it’s okay to not feel okay and I want every young person I work with to know that asking for help is one of the strongest and most courageous things they can do. As Robert Kiyosaki said, “One of the biggest defects in life is the inability to ask for help,” and that reminder has always encouraged me to normalize reaching out when life feels heavy.

Emotionally Focused Therapists
Who is emotionally focused therapy for?
Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.

Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?
People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.

What happens in emotionally focused therapy?
Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.

What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?
EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
