You might be here because something feels heavy. Maybe you’re exhausted from carrying anxiety, self-doubt, relationship stress, or the pressure to hold everything together. Perhaps you’re stuck in old patterns, overwhelmed by emotions, or struggling to communicate with the people who matter most. Whether it’s constant worry, unresolved trauma, or the disconnect you feel within yourself or your relationships, you deserve relief and a space where you don’t have to navigate it alone.

I have over 15 years of experience as a clinician and more than 20 years as a crisis worker for survivors of gender-based violence.
My clients are trans, non-binary, and queer people who have experienced trauma, survived gender-based harm, or not felt accepted in a vital relationship, often with a caregiver or partner. Sometimes they are healing from a relationship that was clearly traumatic: an abusive partner or violent parent. Other times, childhood just felt confusing, lonely, or hard. Some clients have started to wonder if the relationship they're in is a little bit toxic. And some simply hold an identity that others feel entitled to invalidate, deny, or oppress. But almost always, the relationship that hurt is also one that promised love and security.

In this life there is always something that makes us change. Human nature says that it is love or the loss of something or someone. If you think you need help to achieve your goals or make the necessary changes to be successful, you have to give yourself a chance. During therapy you have the necessary space to talk about the different barriers that are a challenge for you. I work with different people who are going through different personal situations, having challenges with their families, or struggling in their marriage.

You’re carrying so much—taking care of everyone, handling work, managing life—but when was the last time you focused on you? It’s easy to put yourself last, but that doesn’t mean you have to stay stuck in the cycle of overwhelm. You deserve support, space to breathe, and a path forward that actually feels good. Let’s work on that together.

Choosing a psychotherapist is a very important decision. Talking to someone new about yourself can be intimidating. I provide a setting that is comfortable, safe, and completely confidential. I ask what brings you to see me and what kind of help you feel you need. Sometimes it can be helpful to interview other professionals. Finding a good match is essential and my interest is always in what is best for the client. I do my best to make treatment recommendations and provide services most likely to help you.

Domestic Abuse Therapists

What are the most effective ways to recover from domestic abuse?

Leaving an abusive relationship requires tremendous courage, so survivors in treatment should recognize that they have already completed the most important step. Still, the trauma of physical or emotional abuse can be difficult to process and overcome. Therapy can help survivors process trauma, grief, and difficult emotions, treat relevant mental health symptoms, and create a new framework for boundaries and relationships in the future. For some, support groups can also be an invaluable outlet for healing.

When should an individual seek help for domestic abuse?

Victims of intimate partner violence should seek help immediately. It can take substantial time, planning, energy, and courage to leave an abusive relationship, but starting the process—by seeking therapy, calling the domestic violence hotline, or simply confiding in a loved one—will help them get there. Those who have left abusive relationships but haven’t sought treatment can also greatly benefit from therapy to process and heal from the experience.

What are the consequences of staying in an abusive relationship?

Remaining in an abusive relationship has serious repercussions. In addition to the ongoing threat of physical danger and emotional abuse, research shows that intimate partner violence is associated with a range of mental health disorders including depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and substance abuse. Therefore it’s important for individuals in an abusive relationship to seek help as soon as possible.

How can you get domestic abuse treatment for someone else?

It can be very complicated to identify and leave an abusive relationship; barriers include the threat of violence, financial instability, and family pressures. Those concerned about a loved one in an abusive relationship should talk to them about the situation, provide them with resources such as the domestic violence hotline, and introduce the idea of seeing a therapist due to their concern for the person’s safety and well-being.
