A difficult truth: nearly half of healthcare professionals wish they had chosen a different career.
I provide a confidential evidence-based therapy space for healthcare professionals where you don’t need to explain the healthcare system or minimize burnout. As an experienced behavioral health leader in higher levels of care working with complex clients, I understand clinical stress, operational demands, and the fears clinicians face when seeking support.

I also help clients with career challenges.
**Now Accepting New Clients** I see adults and adolescents who typically present with anxiety and/or depression. If I had to name just one specialty, it would be anxiety. Most people suffer some form of it at some point in their lives. When left untreated, it can lead to more severe symptoms and a whole host of diagnoses. I practice primarily Cognitive Behavioral techniques. I will talk to you about your beliefs, expectations, and how you experience the world. I'll teach you to be more accepting of yourself, so you can stop judging and reacting from created stories. I will also help you improve foundational behaviors.

This will help you stop overanalyzing decisions, improve your work-life balance, and equip you with the tools and mindset needed to take your career to the next level.
Are you a high achiever who feels overwhelmed and frustrated? Do you want to maximize your time management and stop procrastinating? Do you feel like you're working all the time but not getting enough done? People might think you have it all together, but on the inside, you're critical of yourself and feel disappointed. You might also lack confidence and often find yourself second-guessing your decisions. I commonly work with high achievers and executives who want to improve their boundaries, feel more confident, and take their careers to the next level.

Those facing loss, those having anxiety and dealing with chronic medical issues, as well as just coping with aging and facing a loss of mobility and function, a recent retirement or job change, a move, or all of those at the same time!
I've been working with those facing very stressful life changes for some time and are finding anxiety or depression in daily life increasing. These stressful events can come at you one after another, giving you no time at all to adjust! This is when you just might need some assitance from someone outside of you normal circle, or maybe you are in transition and have recently lost your normal support group. Those that are heads of families find it difficult to confide in those that count on them to "keep it together," yet it is OK to say you need some support too.

I have been licensed since 2017 and I've been working in the mental health arena for just under a decade. I began working in community mental health and that gave me an excellent opportunity to work with people who were dealing with a large variety of issues, including significant trauma, depression, anxiety, self-harm, relationship issues, self-esteem issues, people struggling to find motivation, people who are grieving significant losses, people with attention or focus issues, and people just trying to find their place in the world. My primary concern is ensuring that you feel comfortable and safe to share openly.

I utilize an insight-driven approach with individuals, couples, and families going through major and minor life transitions including career changes, educational pursuits, relationship issues, grief and loss, living with medical diagnoses, and retirement.
Many people desire a deeper understanding of their emotional lives. Often, childhood patterns can hinder our progress towards greater fulfillment and sense of purpose. We seek to understand our inner lives and gain deeper connections with others. As we search for greater meaning and belonging, we might get stuck in old feelings and fears that prevent us from moving forward. It is important to have a counselor to accompany each of us during the times of deep transition and change.

Career Counseling Therapists

How do I know if I need career counseling?

Determining whether a career counselor is needed involves assessing one's current career and identifying what changes can be made to improve one's overall quality of life. In particular, feelings of loss of motivation, fatigue, anxiety, depression, procrastination, or ongoing levels of high stress can all be indicative of a need for career-related counseling. In addition, individuals changing jobs may want the decision-making support or self-reflection opportunities provided by a career counselor.

Who can benefit from career counseling?

Anyone can benefit from the self-reflection, skill development, and stress management techniques that career counseling can provide. However, individuals who are feeling overwhelmed or burnt out with their current job and individuals considering a major career change may particularly benefit from career counseling to improve their wellbeing. Additionally, individuals who are facing issues in their current job, such as coworker relationship challenges or not meeting performance goals, may benefit from the perspective that a career counselor can provide. College-age or young professionals may also uniquely benefit from career counseling as they make key decisions surrounding education and job training that will impact their career trajectory.

How long does career counseling typically last?

The length of career counseling can vary greatly depending on the needs of the individual and what type of support they are seeking. Career coaching or advising services—which serve clients in a specific, goal-oriented capacity—often last for a shorter duration and are sometimes only a single session or a few sessions in length. In contrast, career counseling as part of a more integrative therapeutic relationship with a counselor may last longer, particularly if the issues faced by the client are longstanding and/or more complex in nature; in such cases, individuals may expect therapy to last multiple months or longer.

How to prepare for career counseling?

Clients can prepare for career counseling sessions by outlining the specific topics they would like to address with the counselor, such as current job challenges or hopes for the future of their career. Compiling one's thoughts on such topics often requires reflection on one's career and future goals, which in itself can be beneficial for session preparation. Clients may also want to put together a list of questions they would like to ask the counselor, particularly if the career counselor they are seeing has particular expertise in a given career area. Conducting research into potential future jobs, training opportunities, or support resources in one's area may also help clients prepare for career counseling by providing them with a background of what resources are available in their area.
