With younger children, I use play and art therapy and behavior modification for behavior disorders.
My clientele consists of children, adolescents, and adults. I use a variety of approaches in working with my clients in an attempt to find the most efficacious approach to meet the particular client's needs. As a psychologist, I also perform psychological evaluations for diagnostic purposes. For example, I evaluate cognitive ability, learning disorders, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, and many other issues. Finding oneself can be a daunting task in our complex society. I aspire to help my clients achieve self understanding, a sense of efficacy, and develop tools to assist them in navigating life's challenges on their own.

As an art therapist, my goal is to create a judgement-free space where you feel supported in your journey towards your most authentic self.
Art making creates a unique opportunity for a different kind of dialogue where words or traditional talk therapy might fall short and there are many different mediums we can explore together. I believe deeply in the power of art as a tool for healing and I feel passionate about utilizing the sacred therapeutic space for collective and community liberation.

My work focuses on coping through creativity and the healing power of art making.
Our collective struggle is that we have inherited a world of imbalance and as such, imbalance lives within each of us. It is my belief that healing is done in community, and that true change can only occur in the space between individuals. Together, we will work to find equilibrium and healing amongst the madness. It is my goal to help clients develop and hone the best version of themselves according to their own vision. Through the integration of movement and the expressive arts, I seek to assist clients in rewriting their narratives in a way that embodies dignity and strength.

If life has been throwing more at you than you can keep up with, you’re in the right place. It can feel like total whiplash—overwhelming, exhausting, and hard to make sense of. I get it. I’m here to help you slow things down, sort through the chaos, and find a way forward that feels manageable and true to you. I hope to foster therapeutic relationships that are warm, transparent, and feel more conversational than clinical but with all the same value. I focus on helping young adults through transitions, change, and uncertainty.

Meet Our Art Therapy

I'm sensitive to diverse learning styles, and my background in visual art allows me to get across abstract concepts in tangible ways.
Humans have the uncanny ability to tell ourselves stories that make us feel bad, stuck and unable to move forward. Somehow, it's easier for us to believe the worst version of what could be true than it is to see possibilities. In an attempt to belong, we may find ourselves shape-shifting to accommodate others- believing that someone other than who we are is the only way we can fit in. Over time, this can leave us with little certainty or confidence in our true, authentic voice.

Through mindfulness, thought and behavior modification, art, play, and more, I work with my clients to help them create growth.
The world we live in is full of opportunities to disconnect, avoid emotions, and escape reality. I believe that healing is often found through connection to people around us, connection to nature, and the ability to sit with both comfortable and uncomfortable emotions. In therapy, I work to create an authentic, non- judgmental, welcoming, and trustworthy environment through which healing and growth may occur. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is crucial to the success of counseling, and place great importance on it.

Art is a great tool for mindfulness and self-awareness that enables you the choice to act instead of react to people and situations that exist in your daily life.
Art is the foundation of my approach. To live is to create. There is an artistry to the way we each live and behave. Creating and working with images can lead to unexpected truths and insights. These sessions will challenge you to go deeper and express thoughts, beliefs, values, and ideas that have remained untouched within your unconscious.

Sessions with me will go beyond standard talk therapy, as it is my personal and professional opinion that humans often heal with art, movement, visuals, embodiment, activities, and music better than they do with standard talk therapy alone.
I want you to be in charge of your life and I advocate for my clients in this regard. I practice with the understanding that most of our lives are not the heteronormative, prescriptive path that Western culture would like us to abide by and I welcome that. Come hang and we will help you to feel the most fulfilled and satisfied with the life you want to live.

Art Therapy
How does art therapy work?
The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.
Does art therapy help with trauma?
Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.
How long does art therapy last?
The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.
What are the limitations of art therapy?
Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
