Is stress, anxiety, anger , depression, or substance misuse impacting your daily life and affecting your relationships? Therapy should be a proactive process that empowers you to experience results instead of just talking about it over and over again. I specialize in helping you take back control by addressing high-performance stress & environments, burnout, and traumatic events that disrupt your life. Many of my clients lead during emergencies and never thought that they’d be looking for help themselves including military service members, veterans, first responders, medical professionals, and their family members.

Expertise with Anger Management , Sleep Improvement, Smoking Cessation, Performance Enhancement (sports or test taking), and Chronic Pain Management.
I engage clients in a non-psychological problem solving approach that allows them to discover their own power. Individuals learn personal skills that they can apply to their personal & professional issues. This results in clients making rapid progress because they are learning skills to help make the changes they desire, not just talking about problems. I believe counseling should be action-oriented and skill-based. Typically, clients learn the skills they need in 5-10 sessions. This means, unlike many programs, you won't be in weekly sessions for the rest of your life. Initial sessions last about 2 hours.

I offer effective treatments for trauma, anger , depression, anxiety and other related disorders.
Something isn’t working (sometimes nothing works). The intrusive thoughts you can’t get out of your head, the bad dreams, the depressed or anxious mood, or you've been avoiding things that you used to love. Maybe it’s the constant anger causing you to ‘walk on eggshells’ while you try not to blow up on a weekly basis. Whatever your struggle, there is help waiting.

I have worked extensively with trauma, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, behavioral issues, personality disorders, relationship and family issues, grief and loss, anger issues, and multicultural issues.
You and I both know that life can feel unbelievably messy, unpredictable and chaotic. It's easy to get lost in the frenetic juggling of home life, work life and relationships. You can lose your sense of purpose, direction and even who you are. Experiencing some measure of difficulty, distress and pain IS life, but what happens when your usual ways of coping no longer work? It can be all too easy to surrender to the unrelenting waves of frustration, despair and disillusionment when faced with difficult experiences.

Is your child experiencing behavioral or emotional difficulties? Does your child struggle with anxiety, sadness, or anger ? Are they struggling to adjust to and cope with stressors in their lives? Are you unsure as to how to help them? As children, we are taught math, science, and reading, but not how to express our emotions. I would love to assist your child on their journey to building emotional balance. My therapy style is one of warmth, empathy, and humor. I use art, play, and talk therapy to meet your child’s individual needs. In each of the sessions your child will be greeted with respect, non-judgement, compassion, and safety.

feelings like disappointment, embarrassment, irritation, resentment, anger , jealousy, and fear, instead of being bad news, are actually very clear moments that teach us.
I have been a licensed counselor for over fourteen years and I have been in the helping profession for over thirty years. Much of my experience is working with people who have experienced trauma, especially within relationships. I work best with individuals who are dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, and issues of empowerment. I feel you are the expert concerning your life. Maybe you just need some help exploring that. My style is not to give advice, but rather to provide a safe environment and relationship where you can feel free to grow and transform.

My specialties include ADHD, Anxiety, Grief, Anger and Addiction with a special focus on supporting men (Ages 15 and up) as they navigate school, relationships, work/career and overall life change.
Wow! There are a LOT of therapists, right? Unless the criteria were super narrow, this list is likely a little overwhelming—a lot of acronyms, a lot of jargon and friendly smiles; maybe fewer cardigans than expected. It’s a lot to consider. For many of us, scrolling through lists like this can feel like running in quicksand. And if you tend to be hard on yourself, it's all the more difficult. Whether you're navigating major life shifts, struggling but still trying to pin down why, or just at a loss and unsure of where/how to start, stick with it. It's OK to take your time. There are lots of people on here who can help.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
