Hurley, LMFT of Clarksville, TN and the Emotionally Focused Therapy training as an approach for couples therapy.
Now accepting new clients! I specialize in treating trauma and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) using the modality of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) with a background in marriage and family therapy. I have a systemic approach to therapy, so in treatment I consider how issues can impact relationships with peers, marriage, and family units. Post-EMDR areas of growth include boundary development, communication skills, and identity formation. For more information, my website is www.tscounseling.com.

Has anxiety, depression, self-doubt, or a past trauma, made it difficult to sort through all the noise? Do relationships seem to deplete, rather than fulfill you? Would you like to use your insight and life experience to clarify who you are and what you need? And then, find the strength to take care of those needs? If you have a longing or urge for change, but don't know how to get there, I would love to help. Reaching out can be a great first step in acknowledging that your needs matter. Couples and individuals, I look forward to connecting with you and helping you down the path toward contentment and life satisfaction.

I see therapy as the process of realizing that we have more choices than we thought we did. I am guided by the belief that every human being is worthy and capable of change, and that connection is the epicenter of human healing. As such, I strive to create a strong therapeutic relationship based on trust, support and acceptance. It takes bravery to seek help, and I feel honored to walk alongside my clients. I recognize the validity of all gender identities and expressions, sexual orientations, races and religions and aim to create relationships/spaces with my clients in which they feel free and safe to be themselves.

Life in 2023, sighhh. Am I right? Between work, school, juggling the everyday demands, and the greater world - it's enough to push most of us to the point of overwhelm. Mix in some anxiety, depression, trauma, family difficulties and it can feel impossible at times. That's where I come in! Let me help hold some of the difficulties with you as we work to imagine new ways of untangling the web of stress. The political is personal and often can affect our mental health! One way that we get through turmoil is to turn away from isolation and toward connection. By looking for a therapist, you've already taken the first step!

Emotionally Focused Therapists
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is an approach to therapy that helps clients identify their emotions, learn to explore and experience them, to understand them and then to manage them. Emotionally Focused Therapy embraces the idea that emotions can be changed, first by arriving at or 'living' the maladaptive emotion (e.g. loss, fear or shame) in session, and then learning to transform it. Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples seeks to break the negative emotion cycles within relationships, emphasizing the importance of the attachment bond between couples, and how nurturing of the attachment bonds and an empathetic understanding of each others emotions can break the cycles.
