We are living in some particularly weird times. While our brains and bodies are adaptive and move us towards healing, sometimes we need someone to partner with us through that process of growth and restoration. Therapy creates the perfect space for that, and I would love to chat with you about how I might be able to help! The therapeutic relationship is the most important factor for change in therapy, so finding the ideal fit is crucial. I find that I work best with clients who are struggling with
anxiety
, grief, perfectionism, work burnout, trauma, and the transition into young adulthood (although I see clients ages 14+).

In today’s world, women and girls are faced with unimaginable stressors in everyday life — negative criticism from parents and friends about body image,
anxiety
and stress regarding world news, and difficulties relating to bullying, communication, and relationship difficulties on social media just to name a few. These everyday issues can trigger depression,
anxiety
, and trauma — not to mention exacerbate already present mental health issues such as mood disorders, eating disorders, or OCD. Our goal is to open up a conversation for women and girls to speak freely and openly about their mental heath in a space that supports women.

I specialize in treating eating disorders/disordered eating,
anxiety
, body image concerns, self-worth/self-criticism, relationship issues, and life transitions.
People choose to come to therapy for so many reasons. They feel overwhelmed, tired, stuck, or numb. As a therapist, I aim to provide a nonjudgmental space for people to feel and be understood. Oftentimes, the things keeping us stuck are the strategies we've developed over time to cope with hardship. Therapy is about addressing what is no longer working for you and connecting with your inner wisdom to develop new ways of relating to yourself & the world. I work with my clients to cultivate emotional awareness, learn skills to respond adaptively to difficult emotions, and increase connection within themselves and their relationships.

Are you feeling stuck in patterns that prevent you from thriving and succeeding in ways that deep down you know you can? Perhaps your relationships are suffering, or intimacy feels hard or scary. Whether it's
anxiety
, depression, posttraumatic stress, relationship problems, self-harm, addictions, or something else, my guess is these patterns emerged from a need to cope or survive. I know how hard finding an affirming and non-judgmental therapist can be, especially if you are LGBTQ+. A therapist who meets you exactly where you are right now can be the first step to building the life you want!

anxiety
, depression, self-doubt, or a past trauma, made it difficult to sort through all the noise? Do relationships seem to deplete, rather than fulfill you? Would you like to use your insight and life experience to clarify who you are and what you need? And then, find the strength to take care of those needs? If you have a longing or urge for change, but don't know how to get there, I would love to help. Reaching out can be a great first step in acknowledging the importance of your own needs. Many clients seek therapy to work on issues relating to
anxiety
, depression, substance use, family of origin, trauma, relationship conflicts, life transition, grief, or just feeling stuck or under-motivated.
Honest self-reflection is the answer to so many of our problems. At many points throughout our lives, we learn to ease life’s burdens by shutting down, acting out, or running away in attempts to find relief. Even our most destructive coping strategies were often the best answers we could find at the time to manage our anxieties, our desires, and our pain. When we allow ourselves the opportunity to slow down and reflect on our lives, both past and present, we deepen our understanding and insight. And, as we explore our lives without moralizing and harshness, we develop genuine compassion and greater trust in ourselves.

Many people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed by
anxiety
, worry, and insecurity, frustrated with themselves for repeating patterns that get in the way of having meaningful relationships. When you’re feeling stuck and hopeless, it’s especially hard to feel compassion for yourself. One of the beautiful things about therapy is that it is a space where someone else can hold compassion and hope for you until you are able to hold it for yourself.

I help you build your capacity to create more of the life you want, ideally one that is healthier and more personally satisfying. To do this, you need a partner to support you in doing the hard work of facing issues and working with obstacles, so you can develop more capacity to create change. Trauma, depression,
anxiety
, self-esteem, boundaries, narcissistic wounding, and somatic issues are all things I work with often. Clients often reach out due to feeling anxious, panicky, isolated, frustrated in relationships, stuck in perfectionism or people-pleasing, sad or unlike their usual selves, or desiring a deeper level of healing.

I am passionate about working with teens and adults in Tennessee and New York who have experienced trauma or are navigating concerns such as depression,
anxiety
, or interpersonal issues. My goal is to come alongside you as we pursue healing together. Every one of us necessitates some additional support when there is something going on that feels unmanageable. While often difficult to initiate, meeting with someone is a brave step towards growth.

I work with adolescents and adults struggling with depression,
anxiety
, grief and loss, self-worth issues, relational distress, difficulties with interpersonal communication, and general life stressors.
As a systems-focused narrative therapist, I help my clients explore the personal, relational and societal stories (both useful and problematic) that shape and give meaning to their lives. My collaborative sessions highlight and emphasize clients' strengths and innate ability to "re-write" difficult chapters of their stories so that new pathways to empowered, inspired living can emerge.

I help clients struggling with
anxiety
, depression, relationship issues, PTSD/trauma, motivation & life adjustments. Self-reflection, as opposed to self-criticism, is the solution to so many of our problems. When we are free from the usual judgments that prevent us from moving forward, we can start to examine our lives with more curiosity and can start to develop clarity into what is working and what is not. Often, wounds from our past may create limiting beliefs and get in the way of trusting ourselves and living authentically. Therapy can help us shift out of the survival patterns that keep us stuck and find a new way forward

I enjoy working with women and girls who are experiencing issues such as trauma, disordered eating,
anxiety
, relationship struggles, self-esteem / body image issues, grief and loss,
anxiety
, motherhood, depression, suicidal thoughts, stress, familial conflict, and navigating life transitions while I help you develop a unique set of coping skills.
I help women and girls unlock their true potential in therapy by providing a space that is filled with empathy, authenticity, and inspiration. My approach to therapy is hands-on and client-centered, as each woman's story is unique. I believe that one of the first and most powerful steps in therapy is simply developing an innate sense of self awareness around your thoughts, emotions, and story while learning to make meaning from past experiences. Providing a relatable and modern approach to therapy is one of my main goals as I help you learn to break free from negative patterns that keep getting you stuck.

My topics of interest in counseling include: trauma,
anxiety
, depression, developing and strengthening identity, existential crisis, and behavioral problems for kids & teens.
I am a firm believer that everyone has a unique story to share. Often those stories reveal a lot more than meets the eye. Only when we begin embracing our stories does healing take place. By understanding and owning our past we gain the insight and ability to influence our future. I practice an approach that is holistic in nature and believe it is essential to treat the mind, body, and soul. I have worked with various specialties such as Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Sex Addiction, Substance Addiction, Counseling for those with Autism, Couples in distress, and Severe Trauma.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
