How do I stop the negative chatter in my head? We often experience negative self-deprecating thoughts that have a huge impact on the way we feel and behave. These thoughts make us feel sad, lonely, angry, or anxious, leading to wrong choices or impacting our relationships with the people we love. Navigating through these thoughts and feelings is very difficult. However, you can learn to positively restructure the way you think of the world and yourself. Your life experience is unique and you have the opportunity and capacity to live your best life.

I work with every client from a trauma-informed, non-pathologizing, attachment-based lens.
Are you a high-achieving individual who works hard to mask your tender emotions and meet expectations, all the while holding a deep loneliness inside? Do you wonder if you are the problem, because on-paper everything looks, "great," in your life but you feel frequently overwhelmed or dissatisfied? As a queer, neurodivergent trauma-survivor, I bring the wisdom of my lived experiences to bear in our clinical work together. I have learned in my own journey that avoidance of our deepest pain inevitably leads to disconnection; leaning into the invitation of our hearts leads to connection, and thus, healing.

My therapeutic style is grounded in helping people understand how their patterns formed, and why they tend to repeat patterns even when they’re no longer helpful. I believe insight is not just awareness, but a skill that can be taught, practiced, and strengthened. I am deeply passionate about teaching. Much of my work focuses on psychoeducation: helping clients make sense of their internal experiences in clear, practical ways so change feels attainable rather than overwhelming. When people understand the “why” behind their reactions, they gain more choice in how they respond.

I enjoy working with men, women, and couples experiencing life transitions and crises. Many of my adult clients are not experiencing a crisis currently. Still, they are trying to unravel the effects of a dysfunctional childhood or lost relationship, which might show up today as hypervigilance, depression, anger, or reactivity. My approach incorporates healing for the mind, soul, and body. Trauma rewires the brain for survival, and many of my clients are ready to quit living in survival mode and re-train their brains to live authentically.

As a play therapist, I believe growth and healing happen through play and connection. My main goal is for every child to feel safe, valued, seen, and heard within the therapeutic relationship. With this foundation, I walk alongside each child on their journey of self-discovery, using the language of play to identify and express emotions, process experiences, learn coping skills, and build upon their strengths. I work closely with parents/caregivers, recognizing their expertise in their child’s life, creating a safe and nurturing environment for clients to explore their emotions and grow.

Do you ever feel overwhelmed, anxious, or stuck in familiar patterns—knowing something isn’t working, but not quite sure how to change it?
Much of my work is about helping individuals slow down, make sense of what’s happening inside, and reconnect with themselves. My goal is to help you understand yourself on a deeper level—not just manage symptoms, but explore why certain patterns exist and how past experiences continue to shape the present.

A GPS is used to guide us to our destination. It gives us a route to get from the current location to the desired destination. But, the GPS does not tell us about all the obstacles we may encounter along the way or anticipate when we may get distracted and miss a turn. During your journey through life, you may be taken off your path by circumstances you did not foresee or by your own choices. As a result, you also may lose your relationship to self, others, and God.

I became a therapist because I know how hard it can be to sit with uncertainty, fear, or pain — and how much courage it takes to face it. Therapy, to me, is about helping you understand yourself in a way that feels honest and freeing. My style is collaborative. I’ll meet you where you are, but I’ll also gently challenge you when you need it. Together, we’ll figure out what’s behind the patterns that keep showing up — and how to move toward something that actually feels like peace.

Attachment-based Therapists
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.
What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.
How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.
Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
