Poet Maya Angelou wrote: "There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you". Opening oneself is a courageous and vulnerable act and I want you to know that I will provide you a space to explore at your own pace, and a place to feel known, heard and accepted as you journey in your healing. As part of the process I help you identify and foster your strengths while allowing you to explore your personal path to healing. I utilize talk as well as expressive arts therapies to meet your unique needs and comfort level.

My ideal client may be experiencing challenges such as trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, chronic illness, perinatal mood disorders, or interpersonal and identity-related stressors. Many are seeking a therapist who understands and affirms their lived experiences, particularly those in LGBTQIA+ communities or living with HIV/AIDS. They want to feel heard, understood, and empowered—to heal, build resilience, and reconnect with themselves in meaningful ways, all within a supportive, nonjudgmental space where they can define their own goals and path forward.

I am licensed in Tennessee and recently earned a certification in somatic anxiety therapy
I help Millennial and Gen Z women who struggle with saying no, asking for help, finding time for themselves, and feel guilty or selfish when they consider doing something for them. They often think ‘if I don’t do it, who will?’
My clients first come in feeling like you. Despite being intelligent, supportive, hardworking, and creative, they sometimes feel weighed down with responsibility. They find themselves overworked, tired, underappreciated, and frustrated. It's hard being everyone’s go to person while walking on eggshells to please them and avoid the discomfort of upsetting or disappointing others.

You’ve done all the “right” things. You have a strong work ethic, a solid career, maybe even a life on paper that many people covet. But you sill hear a voice whispering "There has to be more than this". Are you tired of performing? Tired of always being the strong one? Do you crave deeper connection, clarity, and the courage to live from a place of truth, not pressure? Do you long for something real, like authentic relationships, meaningful purpose, and a life where you don’t have to keep holding it all together?
Many of the people I work with “have it all,” at least from the outside.

If you have been struggling with managing your emotions, and you feel like some of the smallest things could set you off, then it could be helpful to process those feelings.

Hello, glad you could make it here. Has life's challenges thrown you off course? Has the struggles of your past been affecting your present and dimming your future? Have you gotten to a point in life where you just feel stuck and not living the life that you want to live? Unfortunately, many people learn to avoid the deep rooted issues that eventually compound and manifest into unhealthy behaviors, relationship problems, anxiety, depression and addiction. This can often be tough to acknowledge and let's be real, seeking help from a professional can be a daunting and intimidating task. But it does not have to be. There is hope.

Rachel Held Evans wrote that "we live inside an unfinished story." Are you lacking clarity about what you want to do with your life? Did you have a difficult or confusing childhood, and now struggle with connection to others? Did you experience a traumatic event or relationship that has been difficult to overcome on your own? Do you struggle in relationships and wonder why you have the same problems time and time again? Do you have a chronic illness and experience the emotional pain, disappointment, and despair it can bring? If any of this resonates with you, I can help you write the rest of your story.

Cayce views counseling as a sacred process that involves connection, recovery, and hope. Through her own clinical experience, she recognizes the courage it takes for clients to allow their vulnerability to overpower the paralysis of shame and fear. As Brene Brown once wrote, "You either walk into your story and own your truth, or you live outside of your story, hustling for your worthiness." Cayce's ultimate desire is to provide a safe place for you to come, be heard, and walk through your own story towards healing.

How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.
Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.
Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.
What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
