I understand when people feel that their lives are out of control, and am ready to help explore ways to problem solve and cope effectively. Taking a holistic approach to clients’ problems, I aim to understand where they are in life so that they can create an effective “roadmap” for navigating life’s challenges. My goal is to create a safe “workshop time” for clients to process how their lives and relationships are affecting them, and create plan of action.

Overall, I work to establish strong and safe connections with my clients in order to assist them in deep healing work. While my approach is eclectic, I tend to pull ideas from somatic psychology while working from a humanistic, attachment-focused perspective. I work best with individuals and couples who want to explore how their patterns began and are commited to feeling better. I have training in Somatic Experiencing and Emotionally Focused Therapy as well as Equine Therapy training for treating attachment trauma.

I help people who feel trapped in their own lives—those struggling with depression, unprocessed trauma, and the weight of critical messages they've internalized. My clients often find it difficult to manage daily life and recognize their worth. They may feel unseen and unheard or need help in forging a path back to safety and wellness.

TRAUMA: An overwhelming experience that is too much, too fast. If too stressed or truly overwhelmed, our natural survival responses can be blocked. If unable to complete our body’s survival responses, trauma can occur and often symptoms emerge. We can feel stuck in the fear of flight, the anger of fight or the depression of freeze. As one who facilitates healing from emotional, spiritual, and physical pain and suffering, I am dedicated to working compassionately, non-judgmentally and collaboratively with you to become "unstuck" and find a greater sense of healing and wholeness.

Life can be difficult at times. It is nice to have someone you can confide in about life struggles that you may be experiencing. Pain unfortunately is a part of the human experience. There are many reasons we may seek therapy, but regardless of your reason, we could all benefit from a little extra support in life, especially when times are rough. I am dedicated to helping individuals and families.

Life happens, and sometimes we find it difficult to cope. We may be in a transition in life, or struggling with low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, anger, perfectionism, loneliness, stress, negative thoughts, and co-dependency. Unresolved experiences/childhood traumas can surface in self-defeating or destructive behaviors. I am here to support you in gaining insights and learning coping skills/strategies that could help you manage the emotional and psychological challenges. In CO, I see remote telehealth clients supervised by Jessy Wretlind, LPC, while in TN, I see in-person clients supervised by Keith B Fussell, LPC- LMFT

Hoarding Therapists
What is the most effective treatment for hoarding?
Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) has been well-studied in the treatment of hoarding. This type of therapy includes changing beliefs surrounding possessions, as well as learning how to discard items and reduce acquisitions. The hoarder may also gain much-needed organizational skills. Another useful therapy may be compassion-focused therapy, which can address emotion regulation and negative self-perception.

How long does therapy for hoarding take?
Although treatment can vary, most people demonstrate improvement after 23 sessions, with some showing improvement after just a few sessions. Researchers have developed a 26-session cognitive behavioral program. People who hoard may need “maintenance” sessions over the years if the problem arises repeatedly.

Are there medications for hoarding?
The more commonly-prescribed medications for hoarding are including antidepressants, including selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), and serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs). This can include drugs such as venlafaxine and paroxetine. And because hoarding disorder is related to obsessive-compulsive disorder, medications for OCD, such as clomipramine, may be effective for hoarding as well.

Can hoarding come back after treatment?
Hoarding is a chronic disorder and it can last throughout an individual’s lifetime. Regularly checking in with a psychotherapist can help manage symptoms long-term. A good therapist will help the person learn needed skills including decision-making, organization, and stress reduction. The patient will gain a better perspective and the need to cling to useless items will lessen.
