To the ones who struggle to love themselves because the voice in their head keeps telling them not to. To the adults who carry the scars of a rough childhood and the shame that comes with it. To the ones who seem like they have it all together, but are hiding their struggles with anxiety and depression behind a joke and smile. To the ones who were never taught how to deal with grief, anger, sadness, or fear and are coping the best way they know how. To the ones who were disowned or rejected by families or friends for who you love, who you are, or what you believe. I see your strength, I see your pain, and I see your courage.

I work with clients that present with a variety of issues - depression, anxiety, addiction - often stemming from underlying issues with codependency, low self-worth, family of origin issues, and unresolved trauma. I see individuals, couples, and adolescents. If appropriate, I like working with clients in a group setting where peer support and identification with others help clients feel less misunderstood, alone or different.

I enjoy working with highly motivated individuals who have experienced childhood trauma, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and those navigating non-monogamy, complex grief, or life transitions.
Taking the first step toward healing can feel daunting, but reaching out for support is an act of profound courage. I see therapy as a collaborative journey where we work together to understand your experiences, strengthen resilience, and cultivate more fulfilling relationships—with others and yourself. Rooted in a Relational Cultural Therapy framework, my approach emphasizes connection and growth while addressing how systemic oppression and societal factors shape mental health. I have particular experience working with individuals who’ve experienced trauma as well as those navigating challenging life transitions.

I'm a queer, neurodivergent, fat-bodied art therapist.
Together, we can use artmaking to process intense feelings about the past and the present, develop coping strategies, and imagine a better future. Artmaking provides an opportunity for a different kind of dialogue to take place, one where words may fall short. I believe deeply in the power of art as a modality for healing and for radical liberation!

My ideal client may feel overwhelmed by trauma, chronic stress, anxiety, grief, or identity-related and cultural pressures. They may be emotionally exhausted from carrying responsibilities alone and are seeking a safe, affirming space where they feel truly seen, heard, and respected. Their goals often include healing from past experiences, developing healthier boundaries, improving emotional regulation, and building coping skills. Ultimately, they want to reconnect with themselves, feel more grounded and empowered, and move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and intention.

You have never felt like you were enough - like you just couldn't measure up. You did whatever you could to be useful and to achieve, but you just never felt worthy enough of love. You always wanted closer relationships, but it felt out of your grasp. And, now, you work harder, you do more, and you keep showing up for people, hoping that it will be enough for them to stick around. You have a hard time saying "no," even when you know you need to and you just want to be able to slow down. You yearn for connection, but without all of the strings attached. You want to feel more peace, more fulfillment, and more satisfaction.

LGBTQ+ Therapists
Do LGBTQ-affirmative therapists receive special training?
Yes. Many therapists who practice LGBTQ-affirmative therapy have completed specialized training, either during their degree program or as continuing education, to learn the core principles of affirmative therapy and how to best support their LGBTQ clients; some have received certifications in LGBTQ-affirmative therapy. Prospective clients should inquire as to a clinician’s background and training to ensure a good fit.

Why might I want to see an LGBTQ-affirming or LGBTQ-friendly therapist?
Queer and gender-non-conforming individuals frequently experience bias and marginalization in day-to-day life. Working with a therapist who understands these unique challenges, as well as accepts and affirms their identity, can help LGBTQ clients feel safe and supported during therapy—allowing them to better navigate their relationships, mental health, and anything else that they wish to explore during therapy. It is important to note that many therapists can be effective in their work with LGBTQ+ individuals, even in the absence of specific training or background knowledge. The most important component in therapy is the alliance between therapist and client, and this alliance can exist between individuals with very different backgrounds.

How can I find an LGBTQ-friendly therapist?
You may wish to inquire about a therapist’s expertise with your specific challenges or concerns—depression, for example, or relationship strife—as well as their past experiences treating LGBTQ+ clients. Prospective clients may also ask whether a therapist has obtained additional training and/or certification in LGBTQ-affirmative techniques.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with LGBTQ issues?
Prospective clients should feel empowered to directly ask therapists whether they have received training or been certified in LGBTQ-affirming therapy; competent therapists will be happy to explain their educational background and preferred approach(es) to help a client find the best match for them. Clients may also wish to ask how a therapist has treated clients with their particular challenges in the past and what they expect treatment to look like.

Are all the therapists listed in the LGBTQ directory themselves members of the LGBTQ community?
While therapists may choose to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity in their profiles, the LGBTQ directory features not only those who have shared this information but also those who assert specialized training or experience in providing support to queer individuals, couples or families.
