I strive to meet every client where they are - regardless of how they got there. Trauma has a way of overwhelming our senses and making us feel out of control in our own bodies. If you have been struggling with managing your emotions, and you feel like some of the smallest things could set you off, then it could be helpful to process those feelings.

My use of different therapy types (Mindfulness, EMDR, Trauma-Focused, DBT, Relational, CBT, Strengths- Based, etc.) is driven by what works within our therapeutic relationship.
Annie Dillard wrote "How we spend our days is of course, how we spend our lives." As you begin or resume therapy we can explore the satisfying aspects of your life and determine where you want to make shifts or radical changes toward health and ease of being. My approach to therapy is rooted in the therapeutic relationship we will develop to explore compassionate, practical solutions to the unique challenges you face. Trust, empathy, hope, mindfulness, and humor are the foundations of my approach to living and healing.

My ideal client is someone who is ready to break free from the status quo and find meaningful ways to create change, balance, and peace in their life. I fully support disruptors, cycle breakers, and those courageously challenging generational patterns and societal expectations to embrace their truest selves. If you’re ready to stop conforming to boxes that were never meant for you, I see you. Change is hard—setting and maintaining boundaries, creating new patterns that align with your goals, and learning to prioritize yourself takes strength and intention. We all need safe spaces, and I am here to provide that for you.

To the ones who struggle to love themselves because the voice in their head keeps telling them not to. To the adults who carry the scars of a rough childhood and the shame that comes with it. To the ones who seem like they have it all together, but are hiding their struggles with anxiety and depression behind a joke and smile. To the ones who were never taught how to deal with grief, anger, sadness, or fear and are coping the best way they know how. To the ones who were disowned or rejected by families or friends for who you love, who you are, or what you believe. I see your strength, I see your pain, and I see your courage.

Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.
Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.
What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.
What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
