I specialize in ADHD, Anger, Anxiety, Behavioral Issues, Self-Esteem, and Trauma.
When it comes to working with clients, I believe that it can sometimes become difficult for anyone to truly accomplish tough obstacles or identify exactly what it is that is causing their triggers. Even when those triggers are identified, they still may not know how to manage those challenges. Many times they are unable to express themselves or even communicate what is actually going on in that moment. My belief is that a successful outcome in therapy requires awareness, consistency, but most importantly, the courage to ask for help.

I also specialize in helping individuals understand the meaning of their anxiety, anger, grief, and depression, while alleviating the intensity of their symptoms.
I became a therapist because of my experience in therapy. I understand firsthand the vulnerability, courage, and even desperation it can take to begin therapy. My experience as a client was healing because my therapist didn't see me as a collection of symptoms to “fix” but as a person in pain, who, despite my sincere effort, was coping unhealthily.

My practice experience has been helping those who have challenges with anxiety, anger, grief and symptoms arising from traumatic experiences.
Sometimes dark places need flashlights. Early in my education to become a therapist, I learned being allowed to walk with someone during a dark time in their life is an honor. As a therapist it is my intention to earn that honor, to be a flashlight of sorts, and to help remove those emotional filters which often darken our experiences.

Anxiety, panic attacks, fears, anger, hyperactivity, shame, pain & bodily ailments, depression and shut-down often arise from unresolved trauma.
TRAUMA: A threatening experience that is too much, too fast. When stressed out or truly overwhelmed, our instinctual survival responses can be blocked. If unable to complete our body’s survival responses, trauma occurs and symptoms emerge. We can feel stuck in flight, fight or freeze. Negative feelings, thoughts, behaviors and stress disorders often lie within the mind-body connection. As one who facilitates healing from emotional, spiritual, and physical pain and suffering, I am dedicated to working compassionately, non-judgmentally and collaboratively with you to become "unstuck" and find a greater sense of healing and wholeness.

I enjoy working with clients of all ages who need help navigating this obstacle course we call life when it presents with such problems as depression, anxiety, anger, behavior problems, grief, stress, relational conflicts, and traumatic events.
Have you acknowledged that you have a problem and are now seeking help? When you talk to family or friends, do you feel like you are not being heard? I believe that the first step in the healing process for any issue is to be "heard" and have someone to listen to you. I provide a safe place for individuals, families, parents, and couples to speak and begin the healing process. My goal is to provide a warm, nurturing, accepting environment that meets the client where they are at.

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
