I specialize in anxiety, OCD, PTSD, ABI/TBI, mood disorders, co-occurring disorders, caregivers, medication support, and life transitions.
“Don’t believe everything you think.” This simple phrase captures the heart of my work as a therapist. Life is full of change, uncertainty, and challenges that can leave many people feeling stuck in cycles of worry, anxiety, or overwhelm. For those living with a disability or chronic illness, these challenges can feel even more intense. My goal is to help clients rediscover their strengths, build resilience, and develop practical tools to cope with everyday life—without losing sight of who they are.

I am passionate about helping people with a variety of issues, especially those who are/have been in abusive relationships, people who have experienced trauma/abuse, people who are in crisis, relationship issues, mood disorders, and self-esteem issues.
Meet people where they are is my motto. To me, that is the best place to start. Making the decision to begin therapy is hard and sometimes scary. My goal is to create a safe space for my clients to address whatever they are struggling with. I am non-judgmental and understand that there are reasons people are and/or feel a certain way. I love helping people understand the root of the issue and working to resolve and get healing from the issue.

Cayce views counseling as a sacred process that involves connection, recovery, and hope. Through her own clinical experience, she recognizes the courage it takes for clients to allow their vulnerability to overpower the paralysis of shame and fear. As Brene Brown once wrote, "You either walk into your story and own your truth, or you live outside of your story, hustling for your worthiness." Cayce's ultimate desire is to provide a safe place for you to come, be heard, and walk through your own story towards healing.

Building more secure connections with others is required to break repetitive cycles in life and to heal from trauma.
I work with adults and couples, those struggling with predictable lifespan challenges (including chronic illness and death) and those that encounter tragic and unanticipated events. I use trauma-informed “top down” modalities including EMDR and “bottom up” approaches involving breath & mindfulness practices - all offered with a lot of compassion.

I specialize in the treatment of anxiety, trauma, sleep problems, and depression.
At one point or another, we all experience stress. Often we are able to manage stress effectively and grow through our struggles. Unfortunately, some circumstances such as major life transitions, relationship problems, memories of painful situations from the past, or other major stressors, can overwhelm our ability to cope. When this occurs, people may experience symptoms such as sleep difficulty, changes in daily behaviors, low motivation, tension or irritability. In difficult times, speaking to a compassionate professional can help struggling individuals find hope, learn new skills , and improve their quality of life.

I specialize in trauma and disrupted attachment.
Being a teenager and a young-adult in a post-pandemic world is hard. Add in anxiety, up and down moods, problems with focus and prioritizing, or relationship conflicts and it can feel overwhelming, impossible, and like things will never get better. Not only do we have typical day-to-day concerns like figuring out who we are and what we want to be, but we may be struggling with perfectionism, communicating, taking things personally, making friends, or getting along better with our parents. The loneliness of feeling misunderstood and not knowing what to do is crippling.

Whether it be due to trauma, a conflictual relationship, or even our own feelings that seem to come out of nowhere, there are times when we find ourselves "stuck" and wondering why we can't seem to manage at our full potential.
I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults facing a wide variety of challenges. Areas of particular focus include trauma, anxiety, and parent-child relationships. I come from a primarily Cognitive Behavioral approach that is trauma informed and culturally sensitive. I am bilingual and offer all services in both English and Spanish.

I help clients, especially Black women, navigate trauma, relational challenges, anxiety, depression, and self-esteem struggles.
You’re the one people depend on. The one who holds it together, shows up, achieves—and still ends the day feeling overwhelmed, mentally exhausted, or quietly unraveling inside. On the outside, you’re functioning. On the inside, it feels like too much. I work with high-achieving women—often Black women and cycle breakers—who are tired of carrying everything alone.

I work with clients, couples, families to learn about: Healthy Communication skills; Substance Use Recovery, Trauma focused therapy, Mental/Physical/Emotional/Sexual abuse, Anxiety, Depression, Relationships
I believe people of all ages experience problematic situations or events that create the "Core Beliefs" we hold deep inside. These beliefs can help you feel more confident in the person you want to be while the negative core beliefs can hold you back from growing and living a happy and satisfying life. Clients I see want to know the "why or what happened to me that holds me back from being the real me. I want to give and receive love. I want to be honest with myself and with the people I love. I want to be heard and not judged. I just want to find happiness, acceptance, and pride in myself versus living in shame, anger and fear."

I help adults who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or worn down by PTSD/ trauma, stress, or big life changes.
I have almost 30 years of experience and work with trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, insomnia, and the “I’ve‑been-carrying-this-for-years” kind of heaviness. I also have deep experience supporting veterans, service members, first responders, and folks with complex trauma. Everyone is welcome here — my practice is inclusive and affirming.

Most of my experience involves working with survivors of complex trauma.
I offer an insight based and trauma informed approach to healing and personal growth. Some of the theories that I pull from most often are cognitive-behavioral, trauma focused cognitive behavioral, existential, and constructivist. I also believe in incorporating self-compassion and self-love into how we talk about ourselves and our thoughts and struggles.

As an LPC-MHSP, I have experience working with adults and teenagers with a history of trauma, including complex trauma and dissociation/dissociative disorders, including DID and OSDD.
My counseling approach is humanistic-experiential, as I truly believe that simply learning skills is only half the battle. Insight and awareness have to occur at a deep, subconscious level for true learning and change to happen. My approach is strengths-based, person-centered, and encourages emotional awareness and release.

When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
