Welcome to my page! I hope to serve the people I work with by creating a space where people can be themselves unabashedly. When we exist in spaces where we feel heard, respected, and cherished, I believe that change comes naturally. Through therapy with me, I hope to enrich one’s self-knowledge, develop self-compassion, and encourage them to live authentically, whatever that may mean.

Often, we find ourselves traveling through life not trusting to share our challenges, thoughts and feelings with the external world. Together we can explore what you’re facing. Whether you’re experiencing Depression, Anxiety, Attachments and Negative Thinking, you don’t have to make the journey alone. My treatment approach enhances the Wholistic Person. I am someone that will work alongside of you in a safe and trusting environment. “You Only Need a Heart Full of Grace and a Soul Generated by Love" ~ Dr. Martin Luther King "Together We're Better".

The fact that you are seeking to connect with a therapist is a sign that you want to begin the journey of self discovery, healing, and transformation. Therapy is a process of self-exploration where you learn why you do what you do, as well as how to change behaviors. By building a therapeutic relationship, I can assist you in becoming reacquainted with your true self. With over 15 years of experience in working with adults, adolescents, families and couples, my approach has always been to meet my clients were they are and to progress at a pace that is comfortable for sustained success.

My work centers on helping individuals move toward greater balance, resilience, and self-connection through an integrative approach to mental health. I believe emotional well-being is shaped not only by our thoughts and experiences, but also by the state of our nervous system and our connection to the body and environment. Many of the people I work with are thoughtful and capable but feel overwhelmed, anxious, or stuck in patterns that insight alone has not shifted. Therapy offers a space to slow down, understand those patterns, and develop a more regulated and compassionate relationship with yourself.

I have experience in the LGBTQ community and have attended workshops on supporting the transgender community.
Healing is a journey, not an event, and it starts by forging a new path, doing things differently. I believe we are a collection of our experiences. We learn to change our actions or suppress our feelings to fit the expectations of others. Sometimes, the culmination of these experiences can leave us feeling unbalanced, not ourselves. In these seasons of uncertainty, we yearn for change but aren’t sure how to make that happen.

As a therapist, I strive to create an environment that affirms who you are as a person. Therapy involves some of our most vulnerable experiences and my practice centers on being supportive so you feel secure while exploring ways to improve your daily life. So much of a positive human experience involves being heard and validated by others, especially in our own homes. I will work with you and your loved ones to learn healthy communication skills to improve your relationships, increase acceptance and understanding in the home, and learn to manage conflict in a healthy manner.

Life can be hard at times for all of us, and our challenges can seem even more overwhelming if we face them alone. Having a caring therapist can make all the difference in the world. I work with individuals, from childhood through adulthood, and I believe that all people have the wisdom and strength they need to succeed-sometimes they just need help finding it. I prioritize empathy and compassion in my work and use a trauma-informed approach. I lean on CBT principles and have also found clinical applications of EFT to be helpful with self-regulation and trauma. With children and teens, I make use of play therapy techniques.

As a gender-diverse individual, why might I want to see a therapist who is also gender diverse?
A trans or gender-diverse client may want to see a therapist who is also trans or gender diverse because the client may feel safer sharing their experiences and more confident that the therapist will understand, validate, and support them. But trans or gender-diverse clients can also benefit from therapy with cisgender therapists; this is a personal decision based on the connection between the client and the therapist, and if that connection is strong, therapy will be successful.

What if I cannot find a therapist who shares my gender identity?
Therapy can still be effective if a therapist does not share a client’s gender identity; a large body of research indicates that the most important factor in successful therapy is the therapeutic alliance. A therapist can also be interviewed for sensitivity and competence on gender identity and expression to ensure they possess appropriate knowledge and skills. Many therapists have excellent training and extensive experience working with gender-diverse clients, and that expertise can be invaluable despite a therapist not sharing the same firsthand experiences.

How can I recognize a good therapist for working with gender-diverse clients?
An experienced therapist should be able to help clients explore their gender identity and expression, alleviate discomfort related to their gender identity, treat mental health challenges and trauma, address existing relationships and communication with family members and loved ones, and determine the next steps pertaining to nonmedical or medical gender-affirming interventions. To recognize a good therapist, clients can ask about these topics and explore their comfort and connection with the clinician.

How might I inquire about a therapist’s experience working with transgender clients?
Clients should feel comfortable asking therapists directly about their experience working with transgender or gender-diverse clientele. For example, clients may ask about the therapist’s training and education with regard to gender identity, how many trans clients they’ve worked with in the past, and what sorts of matters were discussed. You may wish to inquire how a therapist specifically supports the needs of transgender clients or clients questioning their gender identity. A good clinician who is nonetheless not the right fit for you is often happy to make referrals to others based on the concerns you articulate in a preliminary conversation.
