While I tailor my work to each client individually, my general approach to therapy is integrative, drawing on psychodynamic/relational, cognitive-behavioral, dialectical -behavioral, and mindfulness techniques.
I’ve come to accept that during our lives, at some point (more accurately-multiple points), things will fall apart. At these crossroads, we have two options: let it sink and stunt us or courageously navigate through the challenging process of healing. I would argue that there is nothing more valuable than doing deep inner work that transforms our life for the better. I am a licensed professional counselor and work with adolescents and adults across the lifespan experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship concerns, stress, and self-esteem concerns, among many other difficulties.

My theoretical background has been influenced by techniques from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Bowen Family Systems Theory, and the French Psychoanalytic tradition.
My hope is to create a relationship between the therapist and the individual that fosters positive and lasting change. To that end, I work patiently to ensure a sense of trust and safety. In addition, I feel I work well with individuals who go to therapy to be challenged, to be "unstuck." In these cases, I can be supportive while also being firm and direct. My approach is sensitive to the individual's life circumstance, their personality, and their comfort level with the therapeutic process.

I truely believe every person already has the capacity, ability, and knowledge they need to live a life they value and develop a better understanding of their inner world. Often these feelings are linked to trauma, navigating life changes, relationships with family/friends/significant others, body-image, mild disordered eating, grief, behavioral issues, and animal related experiences.

My approach is an eclectic one from Emotionally Focused Therapy, Attachment Work, Gottman, Ego State Therapies and DBT .
I work with couples, families and adolescents. What they all have in common is a feeling of why is this happening to me? What do I do now? Is everyone doing better than I am? Is everyone managing so much easier than we are? Why is my marriage so difficult? Is parenting this hard for everyone? I know that life can be complicated, and it does not come with a manual. My goal is to work with clients to face and navigate their life so that they can gain perspective and grow. My love is working with clients so they can move through this world in such a way that they can be strong mentally and in healthy families and relationships.

The main objective is to apply new knowledge about yourself and your partner to break destructive patterns that are so hurtful to each other. it is so important in therapy to improve the way you speak to each other and listen to each other. Getting to know each others ‘ core values and deeply held principles .Speak from your heart about what is most important to you and listen to your partner. Some people may have tried couples’ therapy and they felt all they did was the same thing they did at home. I will do my best to help change those old and unhappy patterns.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

DBT is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
