I treat a variety of issues including depression , anxiety, and addiction.
I am not able to take new clients at this time. Seeing a counselor doesn't mean you are "crazy" or weak. We all have times in our lives when we feel stuck and need help in getting ourselves or our family out of the patterns that aren't working for us. I strive to provide a personal, comfortable experience for my clients where they can learn to utilize their own strengths to develop the life and relationships they want. I hope to help people gain a better understanding of how their thoughts and experiences are influencing their emotions and provide practical feedback to guide you towards the life you want.

I have worked with adolescents and adults working through grief, loss, anxiety, depression , and personality disorders.
As a therapist, I believe in meeting my clients exactly where they are in their healing journey. Ultimately, I enjoy working with individuals who are experiencing grief or other life transitions that are having trouble navigating new terrain. I also work with those who may be experiencing anxiety and depression and need assistance in creating coping skills. Additionally, I love to help men and women explore their own attachment style and work through early trauma.

Maybe you're tired of being consumed with anxious racing thoughts and inescapable worries? Seeking solace from a cloud of depression ? Or you are longing for connection in a challenging relationship? Whatever it is, I'm here to help you address what's important to you so you can find relief & care for yourself with gentleness and compassion.
I have experience as a therapist in outpatient mental health clinics, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, cancer treatment facilities, substance abuse treatment centers and schools. With 9 years of serving both individuals and family systems, I have addressed a vast array of symptoms related to mental health concerns. I tend to focus on the whole body and its connections. I understand counseling as growth, much in the same way a tree grows. In counseling we honor our roots, noting where we came from while stretching our branches high and reaching for what we wish to become.

I have helped adolescents to adults working through depression , anxiety, grief, trauma, personality disorders, self-esteem, and relationship issues.
Too often the strain we put on ourselves to "get it right", or "have it all together", leaves us feeling more pressured, confused, and defeated than we started. I believe in creating a space where you can better come to know yourself, and feel empowered to live the life you want. I relish in helping my clients develop self-esteem, employ coping skills, and authentically express themselves to find confidence in their own voice, and move towards goals and actions that align with the person they want to be.

If I were to choose one word to describe my therapeutic approach, I would say "empowerment". Power is essential for good health. Attitudes that generate a feeling of powerlessness not only lead to low self-esteem, but also deplete the physical body of energy. Some negative self-talk is normal for all of us, but when it persists for a long time, it can rob us of joy and confidence. If you are feeling overwhelmed, depressed , stuck in a negative situation, or unhappy with your life circumstances, therapy is a good place to begin restoring your inner power and confidence.

My clients often are experiencing a life that feels without meaning and control. A life that is filled with chronic stress. This stress results from conflict in our relationships and multiple roles in life. At other times, this stress is residue from unresolved life events that have depleted the ability to see through a lens of love. Life then naturally becomes driven by fear. If you are seeking to learn a way to create a life that feels worth living, despite any circumstance. I can teach you the way. The majority of my clients are experiencing anxiety, anger and depression in their daily life.

I welcome people with a wide range of life issues, including depression , anxiety, relationship difficulties and general stress, as well as children and adolescents with behavioral, emotional and attentional problems. My approach is tailored to your needs and goals, but usually includes a focus on understanding how you got where you are. This kind of insight can be vitally important in figuring out a practical way to get to a better place in life. When working with kids and teens, I always involve their parents to some extent, so they can better understand and help their children.

I specialize in working with issues of grief and loss, aging, trauma, life transition, and mood disorders, such as anxiety, depression and bipolar disorders.
Life is filled with change. Oftentimes, we have to confront things we never expected. Sometimes, we are faced with overwhelming situations, such as loss or trauma, and we need someone to walk alongside us. But for all of us, there are times we know we want our lives to be different, but we may be unsure how to make changes. Perhaps, our moods or feelings seem to command our choices, or perhaps we just don't know what steps to take first. Therapy is an opportunity for us to pursue desired changes with the assistance that can help us achieve our goals.

Do you ever feel a little anxious, depressed or restless without quite knowing why? Maybe you know your role as a mom, dad, student, professional, etc.
One of the things life has taught me is to not believe everything you think because our mind can really play tricks on us. There is hope even when you think there is none. There are solutions even when you cannot see them, because you have more power than you know.

I understand that seeking help is not always easy. So the first thing I want to tell you is that I believe that therapy clients are some of the bravest people I have ever had the privilege of knowing. Coming to discuss personal things with someone you've never before met is brave. I realize that you might not feel brave or strong when you seek my help, but I hope to have the chance to help you feel those things. There are several reasons why people seek counseling including relationship issues, depression , anxiety, and fear. Unprocessed trauma is often at the root and can feel like it invades every aspect of life.

Areas of therapeutic interest include: anxiety and depression in adolescent and young adult populations, conflict and communication in marital and pre-marital couples, as well as whole family therapy with families undergoing life transition.
I am a Certified Restoration Therapist, which guides my approach in working with clients of all ages and issues. Restoration Therapy seeks to provide opportunities for people to escape cycles of conflict that can easily turn them into their worst selves when painful feelings arise. Restoration therapists help you map what shape these conflict cycles take, and map a way out, so you can regulate those difficult emotions and stay on track. In working with me, you can expect to identify longstanding patterns of interaction that may hinder current relationships and begin to reshape those patterns into a more healthy and whole self.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
