I am very
relationship
focused and grow a genuine connection with my clients to help support them on their wellness journey.
I work with young-adult clients, aged 18-35 years old. This is a very unique period of life, when one is solidifying their identity and trying to forge a path into their future. Life goals often include establishing a meaningful
relationship
, career, friendships, passions, hobbies and overall wellness. I love to help young adult clients understand how their past can contribute to challenges, but also how they can move forward in their life and use their experiences to find purpose. I empower clients with skill-building, such as re-framing, gratitude and self-care so they can live a more vibrant and fulfilling life.

Couples
seek therapy when the stability of the most important
relationship
of their adult lives is in jeopardy: a sense of connection has been lost, intimacy isn’t a priority, problems have become difficult to resolve, stress and emotions are high, communication isn’t clear, misunderstandings are common. Sound familiar? Fortunately, it’s possible to interrupt negative cycles and redefine (and expand!) relationships.

The most important piece of my approach is
relationship
development.
I work with men of all ages who are trying to find their path. Feeling lost, overwhelmed, depressed, or anxious in your day-to-day life can mean you are on the cusp of a life transition which can be a great opportunity. I help clients work through the areas where they struggle, whether they involve personal, school, relational, or career challenges. I believe that once you identify what you want and know what stands in your way and how to overcome it, you are more motivated to work toward your goals.

I provided individual therapy only - no
couples counseling
. I have experience as a therapist in outpatient mental health clinics, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, cancer treatment facilities, substance abuse treatment centers and schools. With 9 years of serving both individuals and family systems, I have addressed a vast array of symptoms related to mental health concerns. I tend to focus on the whole body and its connections. I understand counseling as growth, much in the same way a tree grows. In counseling we honor our roots, noting where we came from while stretching our branches high and reaching for what we wish to become.

Breaking the stigma of mental health begins by choosing to be healthy for yourself. Trusting someone is difficult, especially when struggling with mental health, because it makes us feel vulnerable. Please know vulnerability is not a weakness. My passion is helping, including creating a comfortable space that allows individuals to be their authentic selves. We all have a story that includes various experiences. I enjoy helping individuals to gain an understanding of their stories to provide them with clarity and empowerment. My experience includes domestic violence, trauma, anxiety, depression, and personality disorders.

Do you want to reduce your anxiety and depression, and improve the lives of your family, children or community? A satisfying
relationship

I have helped adolescents to adults working through depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, personality disorders, self-esteem, and
relationship
issues.
Too often the strain we put on ourselves to "get it right", or "have it all together", leaves us feeling more pressured, confused, and defeated than we started. I believe in creating a space where you can better come to know yourself, and feel empowered to live the life you want. I relish in helping my clients develop self-esteem, employ coping skills, and authentically express themselves to find confidence in their own voice, and move towards goals and actions that align with the person they want to be.

I am well trained and experienced in helping clients and family members explore trauma, anxiety, and
relationship
conflicts.
The people I work best with appreciate my love of neuroscience and how brains work, along with my sense of humor and lightheartedness. Often, we feel like something is wrong with us but when we explore our experiences, personality, and needs, what we are experiencing begins to make more sense. Once it makes more sense to us, it’s easier to communicate these things to our loved ones. For many people, this means they can leave behind the weight of what they experienced and transform their suffering into connection.

There is a major difference in 'feeling alone' and 'being alone'. Loneliness in the midst of crisis can feel suffocating, especially in our marriages and/or relationships. The counseling process can be a therapeutic alliance when all else feels lost and hopeless. Asking for help can be a very difficult process, but it is a vital first step towards healing and wellness. Let's
partner
up and journey together. Our motto is "Because no one should have journey alone".

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
