Healing is often uncomfortable. No one likes feeling exposed or overwhelmed, but together, we can pull those heavy emotions out from under that 'everything is fine' umbrella and look at them for what they really are. I’m Sierra, and I believe therapy isn't just about managing symptoms; it’s about a collaborative partnership to help you grow, heal, and finally feel like yourself again. My approach is non-judgmental, direct, and deeply compassionate. Whether you’re navigating the weight of depression, the constant hum of anxiety, or the complexities of grief and trauma, I meet you exactly where you are.

There are several things in my life which drive me to be a counselor. My own past with it struggles, acceptances, failures, and successes drive me to do what I do. I am able to sit in dark places, empathize with struggle and loneliness, and challenge ways of thinking and behaving from a non-judgmental place. I love the unique position a counselor has to problem solve through the failures, walk the uphill road to recovery, and celebrate the success and growth that comes out of the journey.

Are you feeling overwhelmed, stuck in the same arguments, or emotionally exhausted at home? Is your teen struggling, your relationship feeling distant, or your family caught in the same patterns? Communicating can feel calmer, emotions more manageable, and connection possible again. You don’t have to figure it out alone; therapy can be a safe space to slow down, feel heard, and create healthier patterns together.

Life can be overwhelming, and it is easy to feel lost or alone. Maybe you feel stuck or trapped with whatever situation you find yourself in now. You may not know what your next steps are, but you know you want things to be different. The mountain that you want to climb is right there, but taking those first steps seems terrifying. I want you to know that there is hope. That your current struggles do not have to be part of your future reality. I’m passionate about helping individuals gain insight into themselves. Into their patterns of behavior, which helps them develop new coping skills and strategies to navigate life's challenges.

You’re overwhelmed—by your kids, your marriage, job, the state of the world—and the mental chatter won’t stop. You’re too anxious to sleep and too exhausted to function, but you keep pushing through. At some point, survival mode takes over. You’re reacting instead of thinking, your emotions are running the show, and you feel disconnected from yourself and your own needs. Numbing out, toxic comparison, and cruel inner voices are getting louder. Therapy can be a place to slow things down and figure out how our story shaped us and how to break the patterns that keep us stuck in anxiety and painful cycles.

Alex provides a place for individuals, couples, and families to engage their stories, explore their hearts, and begin to live the life they long for again. His approach is influenced by IFS, EFT, narrative therapy, psychodynamic theories, and existential philosophy. Alex works with people who have experienced life’s heartache and long to find life more fulfilling. He interweaves the IFS approach with his EMDR training to heal trauma and reduce anxiety/ depression. He works with couples to find a common language, allowing for a deeper conversation, healing in areas of relational woundedness, and a more connected relationship.

I specialize in trauma, marriage and parenting issues, sexual betrayal, depression and overcoming grief.
I know personally the trauma of deep loss-and the power of God's healing (my husband and I discuss this in our book, "The Screaming Stone"). My desire is to walk with you through your valley and help you find the steps to recapture the mountain-top of joy.

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
