I have experience in treating a wide variety of problems; depression, anxiety, domestic violence, anger, grief, trauma, academic issues, relationship issues, parenting problems, and more.
Life can be difficult at times. It's nice to have someone you can confide in about life struggles that you may be experiencing. Pain unfortunately is a part of the human experience. There are many reasons we may seek therapy, but regardless of your reason, we could all benefit from a little extra support in life, especially when times are rough. I am dedicated to helping individuals and families.

Tired, Tearful, and Trying Not to Google at 3AM? Let's Talk. Hi there! I'm Beth. I have a specialty in perinatal mental health—aka, I help brave souls navigating the wild hormonal rollercoaster that comes with pregnancy, postpartum, and the whole “bringing a tiny human into the world”. Whether you're crying over spilled milk (literally), Googling "Is this normal?" for the 12th time today, or just need someone who gets it (and won't judge your 3-day-old messy bun), I'm here to help you find peace, perspective, and maybe even your sense of humor again.

Many of my clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed by depression, anxiety, or the challenges that come with life's transitions.
In our work together, we'll create a supportive, trusting therapeutic relationship where you can feel safe, seen, and accepted. As that foundation grows, we'll gently explore the thoughts, emotions, and experiences that may be keeping you stuck. While growth often involves discomfort, you won't have to face it by yourself.

"There are wounds that never show on the body that are deeper and more hurtful than anything that bleeds." – Laurell K. Hamilton. You are struggling to manage painful feelings and it is spilling into multiple areas of your life — sabotaging meaningful relationships and disrupting your work life. It is difficult to focus on a task for more than a few minutes before you are sucked into the negative thought spiral. Past experiences haunt you, driving you to use those self-destructive behaviors you thought you left behind. It is difficult to imagine a life where you are content and feel safe.

Trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, co-dependency, and relationships are high on the list of significant issues for people seeking counseling; and I specialize in these areas.
Our experiences, both positive and negative, shape who we are, but we don't have to stay stuck where we are. I believe that the opportunity for significant change occurs in healthy relationships; and that healthy relationships are built on trust, mutual respect, and cooperation. In my practice, I seek to create an environment that allows a healthy therapeutic relationship to develop, which can then be a model that my patients can apply to their relationships outside of the therapeutic environment. If you choose to see me as your therapist, you can expect empathy, compassion, respect, and professionalism.

Anxiety Therapists
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
