Somewhere along the way, you learned that to be loved you needed to be perfect, quiet, selfless — always “good” and never "too much". Maybe that meant hiding your needs, dulling your sensitivity, putting yourself last. You may still hear the echoes of those messages in your relationships, in your body, and in the way you talk to yourself when no one else is around. You’re getting tired of performing, questioning your worth, and feeling somehow both too much and not enough.

You feel different than others and there’s so much going on inside. Perhaps your thoughts and emotions are just too much. Maybe you recognize the need for some change, but enacting change seems impossible. Are you ready for your mind and body to be at peace in this chaotic world and to find your true self again? It is possible to access the wonder and creative energy of youth and to have a new understanding of your life.

I have experience with anxiety, depression, anger, grief, marital dissastifaction, OCD, and divorce.
Many people have this hunch that something is just not right, or this notion there could be such a fuller life possible. For others, there is an acute pain or discomfort that makes life almost unbearable. In either case, counseling can be an extremely helpful place to work through discomfort, distress, or dysfunction.

OCD can co-occur with Autism, ADHD, trauma/PTSD, and insomnia.
Our understanding of autism & ADHD has changed; millions of people remain undiagnosed. ADHD and autism often co-occur. They can be hidden by or mistaken for trauma, mood disorders, or perfectionism. Engineers, programmers, nurses, therapists, and teachers can spend a lifetime not understanding why things have been so hard. They feel stupid, lazy, or alien. BIPOC, women/non-binary, and older adults are most likely to have been missed or mislabeled. Being professionally successful doesn't mean you cannot have ADHD or autism, but it may mean that you have had to work harder to excel in a world that was not designed to meet your needs.

For the past two decades, clients have come to me at every stage of their lives. I refer to this as their "beginnings, middles and ends" of their lifetime. I see teenagers struggling to be understood and truly heard. I help couples after the "honeymoon is over" , I assist parents with major life obstacles, I help people make difficult decisions about their careers and even guide them at the end of their lives. With each stage, I ask the client what they want out of their experience with therapy and give the client the power and voice. I guide them with their goals and help create a safe place to explore their emotions and options.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.
What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.
Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.
Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
