"Speak in such a way that others love to listen to you and listen in such a way that others love to speak to you." We are all going through own our journey through life and many times the path ahead feels and appears impossible. Or maybe there is so much damage from a road that blew up on you and now you can't see which way to go. No matter what age, we can all find pieces of our life that we can control and influence positively even in the midst of impossibility. Anxiety, anger, family conflict, behavioral issues, blended families, stress management. trauma, depression, and the list goes on of things that can impair our daily life.

I steadfastly believe that anyone can heal when sufficiently supported in a counseling relationship. I am passionate about cultivating an accepting and confidential therapeutic environment with space for tears, laughter, and authentic connection. I have 5 years of experience in the mental health field working with children, adolescents, and adults. A few of the areas in which I have experience include anxiety, trauma, self-esteem issues, codependency, perfectionism, and highly sensitive people. I work at Lantern Lane Farm Counseling Center, which means that can use our horses and have outside sessions if desired.

I'm Tiffany and I want to work with you! Many of us struggle with boundaries, low self-esteem, and decision making. Usually we know what we want, but we've been conditioned to believe we are undeserving. Whether this belief has been created from religious experiences, our family of origin, or society we will work together to bring about hope and healing. Choosing who to share your story with is a serious and personal decision. You must feel comfortable, accepted, and valued. We are the way we are for a reason. Let's find out what that is and help you become the best version of yourself!

Immediate availability-I work collaboratively with my clients to identify specific therapeutic goals that fit the individual’s lifestyle. I am very compassionate about helping people with addictions, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, relational conflicts, and behavioral problems. I understand that it can be difficult to make the time in a busy schedule for self-care. That is why I also offer virtual counseling sessions for all of my clients in addition to traditional face to face counseling.

This includes Persons of Color (Black, Indigenous, Latine/a/o, Asian, Middle Eastern, and multiracial individuals) as well as Queer and Transgender folx (LGBTQIA2S+).
Clients I see are typically wrestling with experiences that have impacted the way they view themselves, relationships, and the world around them. These experiences often leave us feeling wounded, unable to reconnect with ourselves or others. If this resonates with you, we might be a good fit for each other. As a wounded healer myself I seek to support you on your road to healing in a way that honors your unique set of values, beliefs, and cultural identity. I strive to take the time to get to know you, helping you to feel seen, heard, and understood. Who you want to be is possible. Your story, as it is, doesn't have to define you.

I specialize in OCD, anxiety, depression, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and gender dysphoria/identity exploration.
It’s taken me a long time to write this because I desperately wanted my bio to communicate my heart for counseling, people, and the work that I do, but I also feel that words fall short when you’re trying to communicate something so intimate. First of all, you are brave for taking a step toward deeper healing, and I am honored that you might consider me as a support alongside you in your journey. Whether this is your first time seeking counseling or your 10th time, I hope to encourage and help empower you in your fight to become who you want to be. Whatever next step you decide to take, I hope the best for you.

As a member of the LGBTQ+ community in today's world, you’re constantly wondering whether you are in a safe place to be your authentic self. Perhaps you've been hurt by your parents, the Church, and people who were supposed to love you unconditionally, simply because of your sexuality or pronouns. You don’t want to lose these relationships, but you also know that something needs to change. Whether you're exploring your sexuality or gender identity for the first time, or came out a long time ago but are struggling due to unsupportive family, friends, or your own self-doubts, there IS a path forward to live freely and happily.

Transgender Therapists

As a gender-diverse individual, why might I want to see a therapist who is also gender diverse?

A trans or gender-diverse client may want to see a therapist who is also trans or gender diverse because the client may feel safer sharing their experiences and more confident that the therapist will understand, validate, and support them. But trans or gender-diverse clients can also benefit from therapy with cisgender therapists; this is a personal decision based on the connection between the client and the therapist, and if that connection is strong, therapy will be successful.

What if I cannot find a therapist who shares my gender identity?

Therapy can still be effective if a therapist does not share a client’s gender identity; a large body of research indicates that the most important factor in successful therapy is the therapeutic alliance. A therapist can also be interviewed for sensitivity and competence on gender identity and expression to ensure they possess appropriate knowledge and skills. Many therapists have excellent training and extensive experience working with gender-diverse clients, and that expertise can be invaluable despite a therapist not sharing the same firsthand experiences.

How can I recognize a good therapist for working with gender-diverse clients?

An experienced therapist should be able to help clients explore their gender identity and expression, alleviate discomfort related to their gender identity, treat mental health challenges and trauma, address existing relationships and communication with family members and loved ones, and determine the next steps pertaining to nonmedical or medical gender-affirming interventions. To recognize a good therapist, clients can ask about these topics and explore their comfort and connection with the clinician.

How might I inquire about a therapist’s experience working with transgender clients?

Clients should feel comfortable asking therapists directly about their experience working with transgender or gender-diverse clientele. For example, clients may ask about the therapist’s training and education with regard to gender identity, how many trans clients they’ve worked with in the past, and what sorts of matters were discussed. You may wish to inquire how a therapist specifically supports the needs of transgender clients or clients questioning their gender identity. A good clinician who is nonetheless not the right fit for you is often happy to make referrals to others based on the concerns you articulate in a preliminary conversation.
