Being WITH people is what has drawn me to this profession. Having a safe space to open up, be vulnerable, and be heard is important for growth and overall wellness. After teaching for 12 years I have a heart for educators, women's issues , women with compulsive sexual behaviors, college students, and young professionals. Another area of passion includes couples, navigating any obstacle to health and wholeness. I offer premarital counseling, communication, and intimacy building, and meet couples where they are in any season. I feel privileged and honored to sit with others in their hardest seasons.

Finding a space to feel safe, heard, and valued can be extremely difficult. It's even harder to find this space, when we're feeling overwhelmed by life. Over the past 11 years, I have learned that this essential piece- developing trust and safety with my clients- is the basis for healing and wholeness. I truly strive to put my clients and their needs first. If you're struggling with mental health challenges as a result of trauma or significant life stress, I would love to talk more with you about how we might work together to begin finding the peace or healing that you're seeking.

Hello! Helping individuals to heal from their pasts and grow into the best version of themselves is something I truly love. Today, we know that trauma settles into our brains and bodies in ways that time cannot fully heal (despite the old adage, “time heals everything”) . Would you like to be more present in your daily life, have a healthier relationship to yourself and others? I would love to work together to help you heal from your past, so that you can live life more fully today.

—Accepting Clients—To create empowerment is to create freedom in life, work, and beyond. Confiding in someone about your hardest times can be difficult and I am here to help guide you on that path. I wholeheartedly believe that everyone deserves a safe, comfortable space for self exploration. What does it look like, feel like, and how do we nurture it? I take an Interpersonal Process approach while also incorporating core concepts from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Person Centered approaches. I believe to first start processing, we must build a strong foundation of skills and rapport.

Many people seeking therapy are simply sensitive souls in need of new or different ways of protecting themselves in a world which does not always honor the intuitive, sensitive, and creative self. I am passionate about helping individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, and obsessional thinking that I believe often results from highly sensitive creative individuals lacking an outlet for expressing and/or understanding themselves.

Women's Issues Therapists

How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?

Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?

As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?

Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
