TriWest Therapists in Knoxville, TN
Hello. I’m Jamie and I’ve been a practicing therapist for many years. You may be recovering from addiction, trauma, toxic relationships, or perhaps, all of these things! I know most people don't go through life unaffected by trauma, anxiety, unhealthy habits or some kind of issue that deeply impacts them. I also know life's problems do not come with troubleshooting instructions but I belive I know how to help people begin to effectively address them. Whether they were caused by genetics, environmental stress or undeterminable origins, my beliefs are: We can have a life worth living no matter how it started & help is worth seeking!

I work with adults, teens, preteens, and children starting at 6 years old. Many of my clients are looking for coping skills to aid with mood disorders, conduct issues, or impulse-control disorders, such as anxiety, depression, behavior problems, and ADHD. Some want to work through trauma or grief. Others have less common problems. However, all are looking to make a change, but they do not know how to or do not want to do it on their own.

I moved to Knoxville over 25 years ago to earn my master’s degree in Marital and Family Therapy at Johnson University. After two decades of working with addiction, mood disorders, and difficult relationships, I decided to not let peoples' pain go to waste. I use what I learn from other's stories to give hope to those with similar struggles. I understand everyone has a different starting point in life, progresses at their own pace, and, every human has a 100% chance to experience hurt and losses. Theses issues unresolved often interfere with peace and contentment in life, work, and relationships.

I have experience as a therapist in outpatient mental health clinics, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, cancer treatment facilities, substance abuse treatment centers and schools. With 10 years of serving both individuals and family systems, I have addressed a vast array of symptoms related to mental health concerns. I tend to focus on the whole body and its connections. I understand counseling as growth, much in the same way a tree grows. In counseling we honor our roots, noting where we came from while stretching our branches high and reaching for what we wish to become.

Life is filled with change. Oftentimes, we have to confront things we never expected. Sometimes, we are faced with overwhelming situations, such as loss or trauma, and we need someone to walk alongside us. But for all of us, there are times we know we want our lives to be different, but we may be unsure how to make changes. Perhaps, our moods or feelings seem to command our choices, or perhaps we just don't know what steps to take first. Therapy is an opportunity for us to pursue desired changes with the assistance that can help us achieve our goals.

Do you feel emotionally exhausted, stuck in unhealthy patterns, or constantly overwhelmed by the pressure of life and relationships? Perhaps ADHD, anxiety, trauma, or conflict has left you feeling disconnected from yourself & loved ones. You may look like you are holding it together on the outside while internally feeling burnt out, misunderstood, or alone. Even faith can feel confusing when life becomes this heavy. The longer these struggles go unaddressed, the more they impact your confidence, emotional regulation, & sense of peace. You do not have to carry this weight alone, and you deserve a safe space to find clarity & relief.

You may be carrying more than you let on.
You’re functioning, showing up for work and family, doing what needs to be done—but inside you may feel overwhelmed, worn down, or emotionally stuck. The stress you’re facing may be tied to relationships, past experiences, family expectations, or simply the weight of holding everything together for too long. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from support—you just need a place where you can exhale and be honest.
