EMAIL is the best way to get a hold of me! If you are experiencing heaviness, stress, depression, and/or anxiety and are motivated in fostering change for yourself, I am here for you. Often, we experience a wide variety of issues that life throws at us. Not so often do we have the tools in knowing and understanding how to cope with and adapt to these events in healthy ways. My purpose in my role is to provide these tools while openly navigating through some uncomfortable subjects along with you. I am someone you can be authentic with as well as secure.

Becoming a counselor was a mid-career change for me, the result of being profoundly dissatisfied with many choices I had made in life in response to things both within and outside my control. I realized that I had to take meaningful action to get outside of myself—and that meant connecting with and helping other people, especially those seeking to find meaning, purpose, and hope in life. I'm happy to say that I am now able to do that every day and I look forward to meeting new clients who want to start their own similar journey.

Personally tailored work combining EMDR, somatic and depth psychology, neurobiology, meditation, Jungian sand tray, parts work, and spirituality or religion to help you heal your brain, body & spirit.
You can change your neural pathways, so that the groove that was always being triggered is now new. The mind and body can relax when you learn to be with whatever the moment brings without reacting from defenses and long held beliefs. Equally important is learning to have joy and success in life, which can't happen with our many unconscious parts leading.

I have specialized in trauma, OCD, spirituality, grief, anxiety, and attachment, among other areas.
We all have complex lives and stories, and no one should be made to walk alone. For some, their issues are rooted in a messy family history, painful attachment wounds or core beliefs that have been harmful. Others may feel stuck in a challenging season due to a situational stressor, a big life transition or the sting of grief. There are also those who have carried the weight of secret struggles or inescapable thought patterns for years. Perhaps you can relate. Whatever your story is, you deserve to tell it and to have the presence of a safe person sitting with you in it. I would be honored to hear it in your own words!

I offer a holistic approach that honors the connection between mind, body, and spirit and pursues deeper healing that goes beyond quick fixes and traditional talk therapy. Together, we can rediscover joy and purpose in your life and find assurance in who you were created to be even in dark and uncertain times.

As a licensed counselor, I am committed to providing quality counseling services to the East TN community and Tennessee virtually. I have been licensed in Tennessee since 2015. I have worked in mental health since 2008. I had the wonderful opportunity from 2012-2016 to work under a licensed psychologist learning the ins and outs of a holistic approach of person centered therapy. Starting in 2016 I opened my own private practice and have been serving solely in that capacity since 2016. I offer faith based services only when asked to do so. I accept people from all walks of life and believe that everyone deserves dignity and respect.

Then I trained as a psychotherapist, learning how Christian spirituality and evidence-based therapy can work together to bring lasting change.
I love working with people who find themselves in or near spiritual crisis. Maybe you’ve begged God to heal you or free you from addiction, but it’s been years and heaven feels silent. Maybe you’re questioning the beliefs you grew up with, and that inner voice warns that if your faith slips, you’ll be lost. Or maybe you feel powerless against dark forces or patterns that won’t let go, no matter how much you pray. You’ve tried Scripture, surrender, and self-control—yet still feel stuck. So where do you turn when prayer alone doesn’t bring peace?

I believe you are exactly where you need to be.... Right now. Rumi said it best: "The wound is the place where the light enters you." The suffering, the vulnerability, the anger and the fear are perfect opportunities to shine a light of awareness and begin healing. I offer a safe space for each awareness to unfold without judgement. My approach tends to be ecclectic and holistic, incorporating spiritual practices to raise your consciousness in order to create alignment with your heart, body, and soul so that healing may begin.

It takes courage to do what you are doing, and I commend you for taking the first step. Fear, anxiety, grief, and depression are emotions that we all experience. They aren’t unusual, but at times they can feel like a runaway train, stealing your thoughts, time, energy and happiness. I work together with my clients on managing and regulating these overwhelming thoughts and emotions, and help them to draw from their own strength to live a life that’s purposeful and fulfilling according to their values. You are the expert on you, and I will be there to give insight, feedback, and offer new perspectives and coping skills.

Spirituality Therapists

What should I expect from therapy that incorporates a focus on spirituality?

Spirituality can mean different things to different individuals, depending on their experiences, beliefs, and life histories. Some individuals focus on strengthening their belief system, while others experience spirituality in secular ways, such as through meditation, yoga, or by spending time in nature. Clients can expect a therapist to help guide and grow their spirituality through any of these techniques, encouraging the individual to cope with the challenges they face and develop strategies to build resilience and purpose to improve their outlook in life.

What are the most common treatments that include spirituality?

There are several treatments that incorporate spirituality. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) helps a person examine and reframe their negative thoughts and behaviors. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on emotional acceptance and psychological flexibility. Existential therapy is most often used to address anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, apathy, despair, questions of identity, and feelings of purposelessness and existential dread. Transpersonal therapy focuses on a client’s spirituality and meaning in life and may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork.

Can therapy incorporating spirituality help atheistic or agnostic individuals?

Yes. For non-believers, spirituality can offer benefits including a greater sense of connection to others and to the natural world. An interest in spirituality may also spur individuals to pursue mindfulness practices, or to contemplate their purpose in life and how to achieve it.

How effective is spirituality as a therapeutic remedy?

Research suggests spirituality is generally beneficial for individuals. It is correlated with better health habits, such as less substance use, and an improved capacity to cope with stress and other mental health challenges. Increased spirituality can lead individuals to become more empathic and less materialistic, as well.
