I support people in working through anxiety, grief, and past experiences that may be impacting how they feel and relate to themselves and others.
You don’t have to keep holding everything together on your own. Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, capable individuals who show up for others while quietly feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck. You may be navigating trauma, relationship challenges, identity exploration, or life transitions that feel confusing or isolating. Therapy can be a space where you no longer have to perform or edit who you are, but instead feel fully seen and supported. I offer a sex-positive, LGBTQIA+ affirming space where all parts of your experience are welcome.

I'm passionate about working with families impacted by addiction, grief, and trauma as well as disruptive behaviors, identity development, and relational issues.
There are many challenges we face throughout our lives that can impact our ability to function in various ways. They may affect our personal self-care, interpersonal and family relationships, and work/academic responsibilities. These difficulties can leave us feeling confused, anxious, and isolated. In these seasons, it's especially important to feel a sense of safety and understanding, and to know you are not alone. As a therapist, I want to walk alongside you and provide the support needed to help on your journey towards healing and find what works best for you.

Whether you’re facing anxiety, depression, grief, or challenges related to adoption, my goal is to help you feel understood, empowered, and capable of creating meaningful change in your life.
My approach is both reflective and practical—drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), person-centered principles. I believe that each individual’s story is unique, and therapy should honor that. Together, we’ll work to identify your strengths, process difficult experiences, and develop strategies that promote lasting emotional well-being.

Fear, anxiety, grief, and depression are emotions that we all experience.
I work to build trusting, safe, non-judgmental therapeutic relationships, using the core principles and skills from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) such as mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness. I use a strengths-based person-centered perspective because what we focus on will expand.

I enjoy working with highly motivated individuals who have experienced childhood trauma, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and those navigating non-monogamy, complex grief, or life transitions.
Taking the first step toward healing can feel daunting, but reaching out for support is an act of profound courage. I see therapy as a collaborative journey where we work together to understand your experiences, strengthen resilience, and cultivate more fulfilling relationships—with others and yourself. Rooted in a Relational Cultural Therapy framework, my approach emphasizes connection and growth while addressing how systemic oppression and societal factors shape mental health. I have particular experience working with individuals who’ve experienced trauma as well as those navigating challenging life transitions.

If you're feeling overwhelmed by past experiences, navigating grief, or struggling through a major life transition, you don't have to carry it alone.
Many of the people I work with feel stuck, emotionally exhausted, or disconnected from themselves or others. Together, we will focus on creating a sense of stability and safety first, then gently work toward deeper healing at a pace that respects your nervous system.

Life can confront us with unbearable pain and overwhelming obstacles, leaving us feeling lost, discouraged, and questioning our worth. These experiences weigh us down, creating a pain that feels impossible to escape. In response, we summon strength and try to "brush it off" and "keep moving," often invalidating our emotions and experiences in the process. Over time, unprocessed pain seeps into our present, overshadowing joy and eroding our sense of self. The future feels unreachable, the past ever-present, and we lose connection to who we truly are. Even in the darkness, there is hope for healing.

In my therapy practice, I predominantly work with older adults and adults seeking help with life transitions, whether that be related to work life balance, transitions such as retirement, cognitive change/mild cognitive impairment, caregiver support, relationship strain, new and chronic medical diagnoses (e.g., cancer, multiple sclerosis), grief/ loss, sleep hygiene, and much more.
When we know something needs to change, it can feel overwhelming. Where do we even start? Some problems can feel so daunting that no matter how much we want to change without the right tools it may feel hopeless. My therapeutic practice, which has been informed by my neuropsychological work, focuses on adults and older adults mitigating life transitions. This therapeutic collaboration may focus on various medical and behavioral health conditions, or a change that has impacted your life in a significant way.

Hello! I’m Laura. Being human is so complicated, isn't it? Such an intensely personal and sometimes isolating experience, and often so very messy. And just when you think you've figured it out - the universe laughs. Every human needs a little help sometimes (even if we hate admitting it). As a therapist, I am privileged to sit with you in the eye of whatever storm you're navigating and help you get through it stronger.

I am trained in grief therapy and work with clients no matter what part of their grief they are in.
I’m a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, and I believe therapy works best when it feels safe, collaborative, and human. I bring empathy, a sense of humor, and a strong focus on building a genuine therapeutic connection. I also believe you should set the pace for counseling — this is your space, and we move in a way that feels right for you. The first session is the intake session. That just means I will be doing some history gathering while you start to share your story with me. The first few sessions are normally focused on history gathering, and then in the second/third session we go over your goals for therapy.

These are a few areas where I have particular experience and passion: College Age & Young Adults; Grief & Loss; Life Transitions; Anxiety & Depression; ADHD; Spiritual Concerns; Career Development and Exploration
At one point or another, we all feel worn down, disconnected, or just "stuck." Maybe it's a stressful situation or an ongoing problem that won't seem to resolve, or it may be hard to identify a reason at all. In these moments, my goal is to join others where they are and work together toward peace and positive change. I hope to provide a place where you can re-examine how you've come to see yourself and others, learn skills for identifying and managing challenges you're facing, and open up to re-engage in the connections most important to you.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
