I practice primarily through an Emotionally-Focused ( EFT ) framework, which focuses on the bonds we form with others and how these affect the ways we move through life.
Over the course of our lives, it can be easy to fall into patterns that keep us feeling stuck, whether in our relationships or on our own. In my therapy room, I strive to provide a safe and compassionate environment for you to explore the ways in which you've learned to interact with the world and gain greater understanding of yourself and your emotions. I hope to empower each of my clients through genuine care and acceptance as we journey into the difficult parts of life together.

Accepting New Clients! To have someone open their heart in therapy and trust me with it, is truly an honor. Therapy can be hard. Often times people share things with me they haven’t shared with anyone else. Because of this, I believe the relationship between client and therapist is the most important factor in therapy and what I focus on building first with you. Moreover, I take an integrative approach to therapy, conceptualizing from psychodynamic and interpersonal theories while utilizing interventions from EFT , DBT, CBT and interpersonal theories. All of my work is grounded in multicultural and strength-based views.

I am trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy ( EFT ) which is considered the gold standard in marriage counseling.
Does it feel like you and your spouse are having the same fight over and over again? These recurring disagreements often provide little resolution, leaving us feeling misunderstood and disconnected. This relationship dynamic is not only frustrating, it starts to impact our own individual happiness and health. I assist couples by helping them step back and view their own relationship dynamic in a way that brings about their true voice and intentions in the moments of anger, blame, disconnection and withdrawal. In this way, each partner can begin to hear and experience one another in a way that builds intimacy, connection and hope.

We practice the proven highly effective research based couples therapy model called Emotionally Focused Therapy developed by Sue Johnson.
I lead a group of specialists that help couples pull out of negative patterns of conflict and distress so they can become closer and more connected to one another. We understand that our need for secure connection is wired in us and when we can't feel connected in our most important relationships, it causes great distress. If it seems you are arguing over petty things, or feel distant and withdrawn, if your sexual connection isn't what it used to be or you are feeling like roommates, we can help create the safety needed to explore the underlying issues at the core so you can experience a loving, secure bond with one another.

Life is often difficult, and especially so during transitions. It is helpful to have a safe, secure place to sort through those transitions as you make changes, whether planned or unexpected, with school, work, or family situations. Change can bring with it growth, accompanied by anxiety, fear, and sadness, and it affects everyone in your circle. While anxiety, fear and sadness are normal responses to life events, they can become overwhelming. If you are struggling with life and the changes it sometimes brings, do not hesitate to reach out for support to help you grow through it.

The process of initiating therapy can be scary. Trusting someone you don't know isn't always easy. The truth is that life is difficult. We have all experienced sadness, loss, fear, and loneliness. Therapy can help find clarity and strength. My experience is as diverse as those I serve such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, & LGBT issues, marital counseling, and PTSD. I enjoy my work and feel blessed to be a tool for God to help those who are hurting or in need of understanding. My greatest reward comes from empowering people with the confidence and tools to make a positive change.

Emotionally Focused Therapists

Who is emotionally focused therapy for?

Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.

Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?

People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.

What happens in emotionally focused therapy?

Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.

What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?

EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
