The Counseling relationship is a professional alliance wherein the counselor assists the client in personal exploration for the improvement of their well being and resolution of identified problems. Through exploration of one’s personal interplay of thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and beliefs, I believe people have the ability to gain self-awareness and understanding of their social context that can lead to self-actualization. I take a holistic approach that considers the wellness and level of functioning of the client across their many roles and conflicts.

Therapy is a passion that I feel so lucky to have found. I learn with and from every client I see. While I have experience with many populations, I am most knowledgeable with assisting victims of domestic violence, children struggling with depression/anxiety, and individuals who have experience with addiction. I enjoy working with individuals who are ready to face their fears, build a therapeutic relationship , and improve their overall quality of life. I believe that regardless of what you have achieved, you deserve the life you are willing to create for yourself. I currently see ages 13 and up.

"I don't need to talk about it." This may be what you have always believed, but life keeps happening and now you don't know what else to do. "It" could be that you feel like no one has ever really understood you or accepted you as you are. "It" could be something hurtful or traumatic that happened to you. "It" might be a relationship with someone you really love, but you just can't seem to make it work. "It" could also be the shame you feel after turning to substances or addictive behaviors to fill the emptiness. At some point, everything that used to work stops working and you wonder if you will ever be happy again.

I follow the evidence-based approach that trust and safety in the therapeutic relationship is the foundation to healing.
I help Gen-Xers, millennials, and college students struggling with a sense of disconnection and loneliness to reawaken your authentic self and find deeper meaning and purpose in life. I adapt specific intervention tools to the individual needs of each client. I do this by working on a collaborative path with you to develop a stronger and healthier sense of self, make peace with your inner critic, and find confidence and hope to reconnect with others. I am licensed in 4 states, convenient for those who travel frequently, have multiple residences, and college students who attend school in a different state than their home.

As a therapist, my goal is to build a relationship with you to walk alongside you in your unique life journey.
Not accepting clients at this time! Seeking help can be scary, but the decision to initiate therapy is an important step. Often, we struggle in silence, feeling alone, overwhelmed with depression & anxiety.

I help women who are passionate about finding their most authentic selves, and possess a deep desire to live a life that's a true reflection of who they are and their values. Women are finding new ways of living everyday, but change is often scary, especially when we lack a working template of the ways we want to show up different. We want a life that leaves us feeling fulfilled, rather than empty. Inspired rather than soulless. To live a life driven by purpose and passion. Working together, we'll explore how to break free from learned toxic relationship patterns, unhealthy societal expectations, and outdated gender roles.

My main focus in therapy is to build and maintain a strong therapeutic relationship , through which the person can grow to understand themselves in a deeper and more robust way. As such, the person can expect to engage in a detailed exploration of their conscious and unconscious lives. This exploration is aimed at the person growing to experience themselves, others, and their life in a way that is personally more meaningful, authentic and satisfying.

Does it feel like you and your spouse are having the same fight over and over again? These recurring disagreements often provide little resolution, leaving us feeling misunderstood and disconnected. This relationship dynamic is not only frustrating, it starts to impact our own individual happiness and health. I assist couples by helping them step back and view their own relationship dynamic in a way that brings about their true voice and intentions in the moments of anger, blame, disconnection and withdrawal. In this way, each partner can begin to hear and experience one another in a way that builds intimacy, connection and hope.

We all differ in meaningful ways, and therefore, therapy is different with each person. With careful, non-judgmental, and respectful listening, I hope you will feel deeply understood and hopeful, and we will be able to work together in a genuine, collaborative way. I work with adults with different difficulties and emotional struggles like depression, anxiety, trauma, identity, relationship issues, LGBT, cancer, life transitions and losses. Being of an international background and past military service, I value diversity and am deeply attuned to your unique background (cultural, ethnic, gender, sexual orientation) and its effect on your individuality.

If you are curious about yours or your partner ’s sexual behaviors, I offer assessments to determine the specific nature of the behavior and collaborate with you on treatment goals.
I am a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist and a trauma-informed EMDR therapist. I work with clients who are struggling with sexually compulsive and addictive behaviors including compulsive porn use, infidelity, sexual aversions, and other problematic behaviors. I do not discriminate against any person who comes seeking help with sexual problems. Rather, I offer a non-judgmental, empirically-based approach to help work through and resolve behaviors. If you have any questions about whether or not a compulsion or addiction is present, I would be happy to assess those behaviors and provide recommendations.

Do you find yourself in internal arguments with your inner critic or feel so pressured by should’s that being stressed has become the norm? Do you miss your former, more alive self or notice that feelings you had hoped were resolved continue to generate painful memories? Are you struggling with unwanted behaviors - irritable outbursts, addictions, or indecisiveness? Or missing intimacy and positive communication with your spouse or partner ? Though there is no "typical client", resolving these concerns or decreasing symptoms of anxiety, depression, or PTSD, are frequent reasons reported by my clients when they come to therapy.

From the first time that we speak, I prioritize establishing a relationship that is full of kindness, empathy, curiosity, & a sense of humor.
I offer a non-judgmental space where we will work together, &, with patience, accomplish the change that you want in your life. There is nothing more rewarding for me than identifying the strengths in the individuals that I work with &, ultimately, witnessing their transformations. I have specialized training & experience in Cognitive Processing Therapy for trauma and grief therapy. If you are grieving, I know that you need to be heard & validated; you need someone willing to be with you in your pain, & who will not attempt to fix the unfixable.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
