Are you ready to feel grounded, worthy, and at home in your own life, not constantly on edge or performing? Are you experiencing life transitions, anxiety, identity concerns, relationship challenges or deconstructing/reconstructing religious faith? Maybe you feel disconnected from your own identity—like you’ve lost track of who you really are? In a world where we can feel caught between so many competing demands, it can be hard to identify our own voice. I specialize in working with women and LGBT people who are ready to understand themselves, heal what shaped them and finally feel like they belong in their own life.

Hi, I’m Mattie Crockett, LPC-MHSP. As a trauma-informed mental health therapist, I am deeply committed to helping individuals navigate their healing journeys and reclaim their lives. I primarily work with adults, specializing in trauma-related issues, PTSD, Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), and anxiety disorders. My practice is rooted in the firm belief that the body holds onto trauma, and true, lasting healing only happens when we intentionally connect the mind and the body. To support this, I draw from evidence-based modalities tailored to each individual.

Hello! I’m Laura. Being human is so complicated, isn't it? Such an intensely personal and sometimes isolating experience, and often so very messy. And just when you think you've figured it out - the universe laughs. Every human needs a little help sometimes (even if we hate admitting it). As a therapist, I am privileged to sit with you in the eye of whatever storm you're navigating and help you get through it stronger.

Did you recently get your child assessed for ADHD/Autism, and start to think "wait, all these things describe me, too?" Maybe you feel like those labels don't quite fit, but you've always felt "different?" I'm looking for adults (or older teens) who are just figuring out that they are neurodivergent, and would like some help navigating that (and all the change that comes with it). Together we can learn to understand your brain and how it works, to forgive yourself for not meeting every expectation of a neurotypical world, and to love (or at least accept) your unique self.

I have always been interested in understanding the world from other people's points of view. My job as a therapist is to understand your story and how your worldview informs the way you react to life stressors. My goal is to help you utilize your own strengths and insight to feel calm, centered, and content in a world that often isn't. I enjoy working with adults of all ages, the LGBTQ/alternative lifestyle community, and I provide sex-positive treatment. A few fun facts about me that you will likely learn if we are working together: I'm a parent to 2 humans and 4 cats, I love to travel, I practice yoga, and I'm a bit of a Swiftie.

Sex is a normal, healthy part of human existence yet many people experience problems with sex including pain, lack of desire/arousal, sexual aversion, or an inability to reach orgasm believe it or not therapy can help with all of that. Have you been avoiding talking to a sex therapist because you are afraid they’ll judge you? I will never judge you. Nothing you say is going to shock me, scare me off, or make me stop working with you. How would it feel to hear “you’re normal, your behaviors are normal, your desires are healthy, you’re not broken, there is nothing wrong with who you are and what you like." Interested? You’re doing the brave and exhausting work of trying to hold yourself together while also unraveling the parts of you that no longer fit. Maybe you're carrying the weight of childhood wounds that never got the care they needed, disentangling from a rigid religious past, or exploring your LGBTQ+ identity trying to find a sense of wholeness in a world (or family system) that made you feel fragmented. You want more than just coping; you want connection, authenticity, and real inner peace.

Accepting new clients! Sometimes life has a way of pulling us away from ourselves. Maybe you've spent years carrying old wounds, getting caught in the same patterns, struggling with anxiety, or simply feeling like you've lost your sense of direction. Over time, it can become hard to recognize who you are beneath the expectations, responsibilities, habits, and hurts you've carried. If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or uncertain about what comes next, therapy can provide a space to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and begin moving forward again.

If you feel stuck in cycles with food, body image, or mood, therapy can help you find steadier ground. Many of the people I work with are navigating depression, bipolar spectrum experiences, anxiety, or major life transitions and want a more manageable way forward. They may feel frustrated by past attempts at change or unsure how to take the first step toward stability.

Bisexual Therapists
What is bisexual-affirming therapy?
Bisexual-affirming therapy is a type of mental health support that fully affirms and reflects a client’s bisexual identity. It is rooted in acceptance and does not attempt to change or question an individual’s orientation. In this type of therapy, clients work with a therapist who understands the unique experiences of bisexual people. This support is especially important, as research shows that bisexual individuals face higher rates of anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation compared to other groups. Bisexual-affirming therapy acknowledges that bisexual individuals may encounter specific stressors—such as invalidation, relationship challenges, and minority stress—that require specialized understanding and intervention. Many therapists also provide couples therapy for bisexual partners, helping them navigate relationship dynamics, communication challenges, or external stressors that may impact their relationship. While not required, some clients prefer working with bisexual therapists who may bring personal insight to the therapeutic relationship. However, a non-bisexual therapist with strong training and a genuine commitment to affirmation can be equally effective. The most important factor is finding a therapist who understands how identity impacts mental health and can create a space of trust and respect.

What can a bisexual therapist help with?
Bisexual-affirming therapists can provide support across a wide range of concerns relevant to bisexual individuals. Whether through personal or professional experience, they often have specialized knowledge in areas such as the coming out process, navigating stereotypes, and dealing with common stressors. Relationship support is another key area of focus, as bisexual clients may face unique challenge when dating or maintaining relationships across genders. Affirming therapists can also help clients build coping strategies for managing discrimination or stigma. Additionally, many bisexual-affirming therapists can connect clients to other providers or community-based resources—such as bisexual support groups or LGBTQ+ organizations—that offer additional affirming spaces for connection. It's important to note that therapists provide can talk therapy and counseling services but do not prescribe medication—if medication is needed for conditions like depression or anxiety, they will coordinate care with a psychiatrist or primary care physician who can provide psychiatric medication management alongside therapeutic support.

How do I find a bisexual therapist?
The Psychology Today online directory is a helpful tool for finding bisexual-affirming therapists. You can use search filters to identify therapists who specialize in LGBTQ+ care and work specifically with bisexual clients. You can also filter by clinical specialties, therapeutic approaches, accepted insurance, session costs, and languages spoken to find the right fit. During initial consultations or early sessions, ask potential therapists about their specific training in bisexual-affirming care, their experience with LGBTQ+ clients, and their therapeutic approach to identity-related concerns. An effective bisexual-affirming therapist will demonstrate genuine understanding of bisexual experiences, including awareness of the unique challenges facing bisexual individuals. You can also look for credentials or continuing education in areas such as LGBTQ+ mental health, trauma-informed care, and intersectionality.
